  1. I will say that this is a jam packed 14 days. I have been to about half of these places, on my couple of Japan trips. I'd make this a three week itinerary to have bit more time in each location. I'm going to insert my own plug to see Nijo Castle while in Kyoto. Although I like Himeji and Matsumoto castles, Nijo is my favorite, and different from other Japanese castles. I'm going to use some of your suggestions to visit on my next trip to Nippon. As usual Ninja Monkey provides the goods on what to see, do, and experience in the Land of the Rising Sun. 🇯🇵

  2. Great stuff Nathan. It might be a bit tight in schedule with so much to see. Personally I would like to try Tokyo -> Karuizawa -> Matsumoto/Narai-juku -> Takayama -> Kanazawa -> Yokohama/Tokyo in 14 days. I have been to Osaka and Kyoto already, hence why skipping these two. Hiroshima feels a bit out of the way and I would keep that for a next time when visiting the west side and Kyushu and perhaps including Kyoto again then 🙂

  3. Doing 2 weeks in September but plans are to do four days in Tokyo at the start, three days based in Kyoto, but probably going to spend a day in Osaka as they are so close, two days in Hiroshima and then back to Tokyo for the last few days to do anything we have not go then around to in Tokyo itself or maybe do a daytrip or two to somewhere fairly nearby.

This is scheduled around using a 7 day JR pass in the middle of the holiday.

I t might not be too adventurous but if I return to Japan, I will head more off the beaten track.

  4. Two Trips I still need to plan out are my northern Kansai trip and my southern Japan Trip. Almost every trip I see and have done centers around kyoto/tokyo/osaka and maybe goes to Hiroshima. I want to do a trip that starts in Fukuoka and then goes south, and one that just goes north from Tokyo in future trips. Getting outside of the "standard" route that composes the core of most trips.

Of course, that's because I've done that core once before and will do so again this year. It's definately a good core for a trip, I just want to get to see some more of Japan outside of it.

  5. Good video 👍 I would be happy to visit half of those destinations for my first visit to Japan.

  6. 🎌 mirrors closely my initial trip plan (which I amended for the season I deleted the alps and added Okinawa as I was traveling in late nov/early dec and did not want snow) – I think next time I will make sure to include Nagano/Matsumoto/Takeyama/Kanazawa arc and maybe more time in Kansai (and delete Hiroshima as I was able to visit on my last trip) your 2 week plan is a whirlwind- what is the train budget? is there a way to squeeze that into a 7 day JR pass ? or an Arch pass plus something else??

  7. Im going to Japan for the first time in April. I was thinking of something similar to this but instead decided to keep things on sort of a strait path. Spend the first few days in Shinjuku before a night in Hakone, from there heading to Kyoto, Kyoto to Onomichi for the shiminami kaido spending a night in Setoda on the way to Imabari, before ending up in Matsuyama for a night. Then heading back to Osaka before returning to Asakusa for the final nights.

  8. Thank you friend, I am quite ambitious in my desire to travel to this country on my own for the first time. I’ve studied a reasonable amount of Japanese to be able to speak with the people, but I wasn’t sure how to maximize my sightseeing in the country lol. Thanks to your video now I’ll know where to refer to and adapt to what I could do. ❤ 🇯🇵

  9. Currently doing a 14 day challenge of 200,000 yen in two weeks in Tokyo. safe to say it's been interesting. Not accounting for costs of accommodation

  10. I sadly didn't get to go in Feb but can't wait for my October-November trip and the one plus is I get to watch more of your videos and others to better prep for this trip coming up. Thank you for all your travel videos to help me prep.

  11. You've really nailed it Nathan, an itinerary planned out perfectly for someone to follow, no thinking required 😀🇯🇵

  12. Working on my masters this year in Korea🇰🇷
So i can get into an international school in Japan next year 🇯🇵
And then i can explore Japan freely

  13. Wow this is a packed trip. I am doing a much simpler route on my trip. I’m just going to Tokyo for 5 days, Hakone for 2, Kyoto for 3 and Osaka for 3 then back to Tokyo for an additional day before I leave. Should be fun.

  14. I have book my trip for Japan this week. 6Oct-1 Nov. Thanks for your recommendation will sure include some of it.

  15. A fantastic itinerary for first time and regular visitors! A guaranteed action packed and memorable 2 weeks in Japan 🇯🇵
