As the Japanese saying goes, “Never say splendid until you’ve see. Nikko.” Nikko, a small town 150 km north of Tokyo is famous for being the home of several beautiful famous shrines surrounded by lush pine forest. Most notable of these shrines is the Toshogu Shrine which was built in dedication to the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate.

It was here in Japan’s most splendid temple town that I tried sushi pizza. This was the first stop of my Japan On The Ground Tour, in which I complete a random travel challenge at several destinations around Japan. My challenge in Nikko was to find or create sushi pizza. Check out the video to find out how exactly I was able to complete this challenge.
