    How far fromTokyo station to Atami by Shinkansen(Kodama, not express one) is about 43~45 min, and from Shinagawa to Atami is about 38 min.
    There are only three stops on Shinkansen between Tokyo and Atami(Shinagawa, Shin-Yokohama, and Odawara).

    Happy birthday to you! Thanks for the tour of Atami. I rented my car from here and I had planned to walk around a bit after returning the car and before catching the train. Too bad I had those little scratches.

    I checked what kind of sakura tree grows in Atami. Google says that Italians brought sakura trees to Atami from India. It is an interesting fact (if it is a true fact) .

    Regarding the old locomotive at the Atami station- the locomotive is perhaps of italian origin. Several years ago I traveled by an old train that had a locomotive similar to the one that is exibited in Atami station. It was a short train travel in Pelion mountains in Greece.
