From the Hiroshima Peace Park it is possible to take a tourist boat to the temple island of Miyajima – one of the top 3 sites to see in Japan. These boat trips are very popular and I can recommend that you book in advance.
We took a boat from the Hiroshima Peace Park to Miyajima. The way back was with the more ordinary JR ferry (included in Japan Rail Pass) and we then walked to the Miyajimaguchi train station and took the JR line back to Hiroshima main station (30 minutes).
The island itself was extremely beautiful and not that crowded as during the cherry blossoms season (Sakura) and maybe also because it was a week day. If you want to see more from the island (Mount Misen) please see my other film clips from this trip:
