When you think of golden routes to and from Tokyo, you may think of the routes to Osaka or Kyoto, but did you know that an actual ”GOLDEN ROUTE” existed? Literally, a route that brought gold from the Sado gold mine to Edo (now known as Tokyo).
Today, the route passes through Minakami City in Gunma prefecture and Niigata City and Sado City in Niigata prefecture and is full of unique traditions, history, delicious food, and more.
