You will explore Higashiyama District in Kyoto, Japan with me in this video. You will see my walk through Higashiyama between Kiyomizudera Temple and Yasaka Shrine and along the way on Matsubara dori Street, I visited Kodaiji Temple, which was constructed in 1605 in memory of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Kodai-ji Temple has great temple halls, gravel and landscape gardens, teahouses, and a bamboo grove.
Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka are Japanese traditional streets located in the historical district of Higashiyama in eastern Kyoto. The cobbled pedestrian alleys connect the neighborhood’s temples, and restaurants and souvenir shops line along their large stone stairways. It is also the ideal place to encounter Japanese people dressed up in kimono or yukata. The heart of Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka lies in the traditional wooden houses lining along the alleys. There are, of course, many shops selling traditional crafts and food. The World’s First Tatami Starbucks is located in Higashiyama District along the historic Ninen-Zaka street.
You can reach there after visiting Kiyomizudera Temple or visa versa.
You will also see Yasaka Pagoda, which is the last remnant of Hokanji Temple and one of the most visible and recognizable landmarks in the Higashiyama District. You will also see Maruyama Park, which is a public park next to Yasaka Shrine. Toward the end of the video, you will see Yasaka Shrine, which is a host to the Gion Matsuri, one of Kyoto’s most popular shrines. It is located at the eastern end of Shijo-dori next to Maruyama Park.
Kyoto (京都, Kyōto) served as Japan’s capital and the emperor’s residence from 794 until 1868. It is one of the country’s ten largest cities with a population of 1.5 million people.

Thanks for showing the Temple. I don't think I'll ever travel to Japan.. and if I did, I would probably do more urban type tourist things… so this was nice to see from a 1st person perspective.
Kyoto seems pretty crowded like you said.. but manageable (I have social anxiety)
A wonderful walking tour! You easily handled the busy pedestrian traffic while filming – and I enjoyed every minute. Kyoto is now on my bucket list. The view @24:13 blew me away🙂
This videos are so helpful for me. As a person with disabilities, seeing the area I’m travelling to before I go is so beneficial for my confidence. Thank you for documenting these videos.
