I TOLD MYSELF I WOULD NEVER GO TO SHIBUYA HALLOWEEN AGAIN AND YET HERE I AM!!! ALSO I TRIED TO MAKE THIS VIDEO COZY DESPITE THE UHH INTENSE CONTENT HEHE

Halloween 2022 was CROWDED. Like, a lot of people. Still, I’m pretty sure it was even more people in pre-2020 years 😅 Genuinely, I can’t remember what it was like!!! But wow!! There were so many people and SO many foreigners (like me lol)!!

There were also a ton of police everywhere. I went to Shibuya with my friends on Saturday night (before Korea happened) and at the time I thought they were maybe overdoing it, but now I’m much more grateful for their presence and efforts at crowd control ⭐️

  1. Happy fall everyone 💕 I'm going to be busy with thesis work for a while so my videos will probably be a bit shorter but I'm still trying my best 😤

  2. All the best on your thesis work, Allison! I've been lurking for the past few months but always enjoy your videos ♡ I decided to skip Shinsaibashi/Namba Halloween (I'm not near Tokyo!) since I'm not into huge crowds
( 。゚Д゚。) ~ but looks like you had fun! take care ♡♡♡

  3. Youre videos are so nice and relaxing to watch! I just discovered your channel and im living my japan dreams through your videos!! You just give off such sweet and friendly vibes!!

  4. Allison, I love your content! I want to move to Tokyo next year. I have a job that allows me to work from anywhere. I am currently trying to do research on the best area to get an apartment. I’m a single women, mid 30s, no kids, I love anime, I love all things cute, I’m kind of a home body, I love non-chain coffee shops, cafe’s, and thrift stores. I can afford to pay about $1,600 USD for rent but would prefer to pay much less if possible. Would you mind recommending some areas I could check out? There are so many Tokyo wards and cities near Tokyo. Honestly, I’m a little overwhelmed by the amount of neighborhoods. I don’t speak the language yet, but I do plan to learn as much as I can within this next year.

  5. My Daughter was in Shibuya Crossing also She is a shy Australian Girl in her mid 20's. It is her first time overseas and she decided to go 3 days before she left. She spent 8 days in Tokyo, in including a day trip to Mt Fuji. She caught the bullet train to Osaka on the 4th will stay 5 nights, then Kyoto a few days and back to Tokyo for 2 nights. Her best friend from uni is going back to Japan on the 18/11 after a month break to teach English like you. My daughter only new 2 words of Japanese when she left. This is also out of her comfort zone and your right it is good sometimes to push yourself to try something new. Even if Anxiety can get the better off you. She is already planning her next trip. You have similar interests to her and would love when she comes home to communicate with you and who knows you might be able to catch up for a chi latte.

  6. I live in Korea and the tragic news of Itaewon was horrifying to watch…💔 Seeing how much police were involved to control the crowd in your video made me feel relieved to know that everyone was able to enjoy their Halloween weekend 🥲

  7. Man, Shibuya does not look like anywhere I want to be on a normal day never mind on a holiday… Too many people!!!

  8. I live in the NYC suburbs so around here it's kids trick or treating in the neighborhood. If you go into the city though it's pretty fun they have a really big Halloween Parade and it gets crazy. At my house though I never get trick or treaters since I live on a busy road so I just eat all the candy lol! Shibuya Halloween looked crazy, not for everyone I can see but I think I would have enjoyed it.

  9. This is one of my favorite vlogs that you've put out so far. It's just feels so authentic. <3 Thanks for taking us with you!

  10. I was at Shibuya Crossing on 10/25 and enjoyed how absolutely dead it was. I'm not a fan of crowds, so was dreading visiting this spot anyways, but once we got there it wasn't bad at all. Seeing this video means Halloween in Japan will be something I'll enjoy watching from YouTube. 🙂
Here in the States (at least in CA where I'm from), it seems like in the past 5-10 years or so trick or treating isn't really a thing. "Trunk-or-treating" is the new Halloween game and it's fine with me, as that means I don't have to buy candy to give out on the night itself. I don't have kids myself, but see more and more neighborhoods and cities saying how they don't have as many trick or treaters and a lot of people are attributing it to the trunk-or-treat phase. Which is odd to me because when I grew up (80's kid!), we were always told to never approach someone's car and never take candy from strangers. Ha!

  11. I could not handle those crowds even as a New Yorker lol. Are the Tokyo suburbs more chill on Halloween?

  12. It’s so lovely to see you stretch your comfort zone to experience things you might not normally do. It looks as though you have some great friends to share those adventures with. Thanks for sharing some of your daily life with us. I went to Japan in 2018 and loved it. I really hope to visit again some day but in the meantime I will continue to live vicariously through you! 😊

  13. I really enjoy watching your videos. I just like the way you shoot them better than other people. It’s like they never really give you the real view of Japan or something. It’s hard to explain. Like the shot you took down that road with all the telephone wires and tracks. They never show you that kind of stuff. I really like your style. Also you eat normal food. Everyone else eats tofu and plants. Don’t get me wrong I like healthy food but good grief they never eat anything but healthy food.

  14. One of my favorite movies is The Memoirs of a Geishia, which is free to watch on YouTube now.

  15. Great Video. I do like your humbleness and kindness. You´re a nice person. Best wishes and ¡Ganbatte! with your thesis 💪

  16. Very interesting and although I’m not into crowds too I would love to experience Shibuya at Halloween at least once. For Germany I think it’s almost a similar development with Halloween as in Japan. We don’t have a tradition with it either and when I was a kid I only knew it from movies. But I’d say in the last 15-20 years it’s grown here too. There’re Halloween party’s in bigger cities and for the last few years kids are doing trick or treating as well in some neighborhoods. But not everyone is participating.
