Whether you’re a visitor to the island of Oahu, Hawaii or a local, here are the spots I’d show you around the island. And the best part is most of these sites are free or $5 and under (except the Iolani Palace tour / Polynesian Cultural Center). This can be done in one day if you start early in the day, or can be broken up into two days. Don’t forget to also visit the west side of Oahu for amazing beaches and hikes. This video was way too long to do that side. Check out my Waianae Eats video for more westside action! And don’t forget Pearl Harbor (closed while filming due to a water main break) and Aloha Stadium’s Swap Meet, which can both be done on another day if you wish to go there.

If you are into hiking, some other popular hikes not mentioned are the Manoa Falls Trail, Makapu’u Lighthouse Trail and the Pillbox Trial in Lanikai.

  1. Thanks so much for this video! I've been missing Oahu so much, but next spring I'm sure to be back, in the meantime I'll be on Oahu with an "in the know" local 🏖

  2. Aloha Misty , great tour 🚙 For the DiamondHead hike ⛰ what time did you start ? The sun was up but not to high in the sky. Also at the Pali lookout , does anyone check if you have a parking ticket for a tourist ?

  3. 🌺🤙☀️Misty, you’d make a super tour guide. You’ve provided excellent info about the Diamond head hike. Even as a former local, there are places we passed by, but never took the time to visit . Also, good advice regarding leave nothing…nothing in the car…cause the pilikia eyes going “spock” you hiding your stuff under the seat and in da trunk. You’ve spent a lot of time and gas to make this excellent video with a kamaaina perspective. Glad you showed the not so ripe and crunchy sliced mangoes and had they been pickled island style, it would’ve been mo beta, yeah. Thank you, Misty for taking me virtually back home. 🌺☀️🤙

  4. Firstly, you are an amazing tour guide! Very detailed and thorough. There is a memorial of Ellison Onizuka in Little Tokyo in Los Angeles. Mahalo xo

  5. Great tour, Misty. Shoyu on papaya!!!!! Showing your Japanese roots. Shoyu goes well on everything. I put a few drops on my eggs with rice. Thanks again.

  6. A great overview tour especially for those new to Oahu. Natural extension of your body of food and history videos. Especially appreciate the Punchbowl cemetery footage, noting Ellison Onizuka's grave site and sharing how you learned about the tragedy of his death. I was not aware of the food truck serving those pupusaas — will definitely be checking them out! Informative, relaxing, and interesting video. Thanks, Misty.

  7. -Loved the video! I like how it felt so peaceful and relaxing – just like whenever I go to Oahu as a tourist. The way you pointed out entrance to various spots is really helpful.

  8. Aloha Misty!! We loved this video and tour!! It’s great to see and learn places from a local’s perspective. Very informative and we enjoyed seeing so many of the places we’ve been to and learning about so many more we haven’t been to. It’s just never ceases to amaze us how much O’ahu has to offer. Keep up the great work!! 🤙🏽🙌🏽🌺👍🏽

  9. This is a great video Misty! You should do this part time, you would do so good leading a group of tourists!!! 🏆

  10. Really enjoyed this vid. It’s probably one of my favorite posts from your channel!

  11. Wow Misty!! what a terrific video! I love that you interjected when necessary for historical, informational, and advice, allowing the viewer to really take in the beauty of the sights accompanied by beautiful relaxing music!! You experienced perfect weather with the blue skies and puffy clouds! Loved the Drone footage. Would you be filming any visits to outer islands? Big Island is my favorite with the gorgeous waterfalls, volcano, beaches, coffee plantations, etc..God Bless you for sharing!
