Okonomiyaki is probably one of the most interesting traditional Japanese food you can find. You could describe it as a kind of savoury pancake (much like bacon pancakes) filled with a variety of different ingredients. The coolest thing about japanese food like okonomiyaki and monjayaki is the fact that it’s a DIY food meaning you make the food yourself!
We went to a famous okonomiyaki place just outside of Kabukicho in Shinjuku which serves all you can eat okonomiyaki aka tabehoudai!
Okonomiyaki is famous in Osaka, but you can easily find these tasty Japanese Bacon Pancakes all over Tokyo!

OOOOH We love Okonomiyaki. Monjayaki or Tokyo style Okonomiyaki is delicious! It's not as firm as the Osaka or Hiroshima style Okonomiyaki. It has a more of a burnt cheesy flavor. There is a place called Monjayaki Masuda-tei in Shibuya that had excellent cook it yourself Okonomiyaki and Monjayaki. On our previous trip we picked up an electric takoyaki grill that also has a flat plate for Okonomiyaki.
I'm all about that sauce though. You need to get the more sauce, mayo, aonori and the bonito shavings up on there! How could you have it without the bonito!? Also, I thought the spatula was supposed to be your utensil. You guys used chopsticks!? OK that's enough Weeabooing.

The thinner monja you make, the better you can taste.

Gonna have to try that Melon drink the next time I go out, I usually avoid that flavor. I'm also not a fan of the yamaimo. Too sticky for my taste. Let's go for okonomiyaki sometime XD – Victor
