The noodle man’s call hearkens back for centuries. Taste a piece of history at an unbeatable price!
Kyoto has many ancient rituals. After people go to bed, the streets are filled with sounds unique to the city and its history. Like the sweet-potato seller, with his tubers roasting in the back.
And my personal favorite – the noodle man. His tune hasn’t changed for centuries. It’s a great way to get your attention – unless you’re trying to get some sleep.
Though it may look like a simple bowl of noodles, it’s really a full-fledged meal. A slice of egg, some pressed fish cakes, and a sprinkling of chives. And five bucks a serving, you can’t beat the price.
