On August the 29th, 2022, I was finally able to check something off my bucket list: conquering Mount Fuji. The previous year I had everything ready to do it but, due to heavy rain on the days I intended to go, I couldn’t do it.

Thus on August the 29th, after taking a bus from Shinjuku station (Tokyo) to the 5th station of Mount Fuji, at around 12:00 we started the ascend towards our hut on the 8th station. We got there pretty quick, at 14:45.

We spent the evening there and, after asking the hut stuff, we decided not to do like most of the climbers and, instead of leaving the hut at 02:00, do it at 02:30, so we could reach the summit on time for the sunrise (around 05:15).

Once again, we overdid it lol. We reached the summit at 03:30 and had to wait more than an hour and a half there for the sun to rise, with drizzle, cold and a very strong wind. The weather wasn’t the best, but we managed to see the sunrise and the sea of clouds, which was incredibly beautiful.

So, my advice, check and re-check the sunrise time and how long do you think it will take you to reach the summit, because you don’t want to be waiting for the sunrise for too long 🙂
