In this video, we are Catania! Many travellers come to Catania to catch a glimpse of Mt Etna, a giant volcano on the outskirts of the ancient port. But we’re here to EAT, so join us while we show you all of the amazing Sicilian food to try in Catania!
We are starting our morning at the insane Catania Fish Market. This place is buzzing with fish mongers screaming, chopping and transporting seafood that came fresh from the port early in the morning. For seafood lovers, this market is heaven!
📍Pescheria di Catania
Within the market are a few seafood restaurants and street food stalls. We stopped into a fried fish joint and ordered a Fish in Cone (no bones) for breakfast! The mixed fish were fresh and super crunchy!
📍Scirocco (inside fish market)
As the fish market slowly closed for the day, we made our way across Catania for some Sicilian treats. We stopped into a pasticceria and ordered a few dishes. The first was Arinicina Ragu, which was shaped like Mt. Etna and STUFFED with cheese! The next dish was Cassata which is a Sicilian sponge cake. It was a little too sweet for us. We also ordered our favourite Italian dessert, cannoli. These are so incredible in Sicily!!! And to wash it all down and balance the sweetness, we ordered a shakerato coffee. This caffe had a traditional feel!
📍Pasticceria Savia
After exploring Catania in the afternoon, it was time to eat a unique Sicilian dinner. We went to a local trattoria that is famous for their horse meat, which we had never tried before. We ordered the horse fillet steak, a plate of mussels and caponata (fried eggplant salad). The horse was absolutely delicious and served medium rare, and we highly recommend trying it while in Catania!
📍Trattoria del Cavaliere

Why eat horse meat? I love horses 😥
A Catania cono da non perdere anche le polpette di cavallo
that elephant is actually the symbol of the city, we call it the "liotro"
Hai mangiato Mister Ed
Hannibal rode elephants over from Africa when he conquered Italy
The horse steak is delicious. The vinegar is not there to mask the flavor. We're Sicilian and my father used vinegar, salt and oregano on the steaks when he barbecued. Those ingredients make for a real tasty steak, be it beef or cavallo. BTW, we're from the next town over from Catania…Siracusa… and our real arancini do not contain cheese… just the ragu' with peas. Great videos.
Horse over beef? Disgusting!
Goes to show. All supermarks meat should be tested for what meat they really selling

Your first time trying whores? I don't believe.
Elephant in Sicily?? to roam wild ? 🙂 yes in the Pleistocene!! I hope you were joking
Just find it a bit odd to read street food because street food makes me instantly think of the food carts or stalls in the streets of Korea, same with Japan and Taiwan. But from what was shown definitely not street food.
Very nice guys. Come to Germany, I’d love to be your guide ❤️❤️
poor horses
the story is a little bit wrong about the elephant..it was the turkey dominataion..and now its the symbole of catania.. that the elephant look up..it brings luck. <3 greetings from my catania woman.
Stop…a horse??? 🤦♀️😩🤬🤬
Italian and Greek food are the best
Hi you two, I hope you gave the wonderful accordion player a tip. He's most likely retired and could really use the money. 🙂
@7:00 she said 'Savia Pasticceria' on via Umberto. @9:32, that resembles the famous 'Napoli de Venus' (Venus' nipple (breast). You see them in the movie Amadeus.
i did not like it two see you eat horse😢
Unfortunately.
are you also visiting the Netherlands? I like to give some tips for the trip
Nooooo, l'arancino con il caffè non si può vedere.
Coffee with an arancino? Ouch. Some sparkling water or aranciata would be more a lá Catanese. Save the coffee on its own later in the day. Nice tour.
How did you eat the horse without puking?
You guys are adorable! 🙂
LOL I was waiting for it and it didnt take long for the word he uses in EVERY video …SUPER ..everything is super fresh , super tasty ,, super sweet , super awesome , super flavorful ..stop over using that word luke .. find other words plllllzzz you sound like a California valley girl and its cringe
No Elephants Did NOT originate in sicily !!! and yes there used to be a species of small elephants in sicily decended from african elephants but that was Thousands of years before humans inhabited sicily so Sabrina seriously do some research
