Japan’s border entry requirements are about to change! It’s finally happening. We have been waiting, and this might be the closest we have got to actually knowing Japan’s reopening plan! It looks like Japan’s borders will open VERY SOON INDEED! Will the Japan Travel Ban get lifted sooner than expected? I’ve been following Japan’s Travel News and Japan’s border updates for two years now and it sounds like promising news coming our way!
Japan’s visa waivers will be reinstated hopefully before the end of the year! Watch the video to figure out the TWO PATHWAYS to reopening Japan!

I love your videos! Thanks!!
I'm a Brazilian living in the Pacific Northwest, USA.
I signed the petition during your livestream about it ✍👍
Sorry, but I don't know whether YT suggested your short to me or not 🤷♀ I try to avoid shorts because I don't want to encourage this trend of other platforms trying to be tiktok.
Thank you Nathan, for all you’ve done! 🥳
Thanks Nathan for the update!
Japan has to drop all restrictions and reopen. It'll be like a shot of nitrous into the economy of Japan. By the end of October they should be fully reopened. But wait for official word before making ANY reservations and flights.
damn your tone is high~ that mean its good news 😀
dont do short~ i m a dinosaur~ and i like long better 😛 lololol
As the old lady said in the Titanic movie: "It's been 84 years".
Thank you for the update. Personally, I think this is an embarrassment on how the govt is handling entry requirements. They can do a lot of good by restoring entry requirements to the pre-2019 level immediately. We've seen other G7 and ASEAN nations done this already. Many of the underdeveloped countries were leading the way on removal of all COVID restrictions.
The entry cap is not the bottleneck. The bottleneck is the VISA process and having to book through a tour agency. So only lifting the caps will not increase entries by tourist.
The potential for opening up around October was what hunch I had before, but it's never really clear. I hope I could get that graduation trip to see my friends again and maybe even find a job will work out. Thanks for the update Nathan 😎😎
Thank you for these videos shining a light on the situation Nath!
I think the JP government didn't predict that their embassies would be so overwhelmed worldwide, and have been forced to act on the next phase sonner than they wanted to.
Diggin the shirt bro. Getting some real Carp vibes. Keep up on the updates, your my main source of news to help me plan my return to Japan. Not going until I can fly via the airlines I want and able to stay where I want. Im missing Hiroshima alot
I heard you need 4x vaxes to get in 😳
Thanks Ninja , geez you got a huge rise in petition signings , it was less than 100 when I did it , great initiative !
When looking at Japanese news, do not just look at western facing Japanese news sites that publish articles in English. Look at the Japanese news sites that publish articles in Japanese for a Japanese audience. Let's just say, the Japanese population is now fully aware that the Yen is crashing compared to other major currencies. The Governor of Tokyo has just said "Japan should fully reopen tomorrow"
Almost 10K!!!
The related short video news flash piece was a nice touch. 📺⚡️🇯🇵
Great job for an unscripted video!
What are your thoughts on non vaccinated tourists being allowed in?
Unscripted worked. Figured crossed that we get the big surprise mass opening!
Thanks ❤️
Do you think flight prices will go down when they remove the restrictions? They are nasty expensive right now even looking 4-6 months in advance
NZ is fully open and even vaccination mandates for travelers to nz has been abolished, as our case numbers are so low. Face masks not needed, but for healthcare and elderly places @Ninja Monkey. Hope Japan follows NZ and other countries, sooner than later 🙂
It's so great to see thar there is finally a light at the and of the tunel! My preparations are for summer 2023, but I hope that the ones, that wanna travel to Japan in fall, can enter the country!
I just got my EFRS certification. I am now waiting on my E visa approval. Keeping my fingers crossed that this October trip will finally happen for me and everyone of us has been wanting to visit Japan.
lifting the entry cap by itself doesnt make a lot of sense. people make their decisions on travel based on visa .Hopefully all restrictions by october. planning usually takes a few months esp for families and many tourist areas may not make it through the winter if they dont. Plus news reports state that japan wants to increase their defense spending to 5.4 trillion yen. where are they gonna find the money from? The economy is already fragile due to inflation and taxes
Probably not the wisest of decisions; the country is coming off of a recent spike in cases. Then too, depending on where foreign tourists stay and eat, their temperature is going to be checked by staff (if not with an IR thermometer then a facial recognition display),… this isn't optional.
Thanks for the update! I’m in NZ and all our covid restrictions have now been abolished (except healthcare and elderly homes). Hoping to get to Japan next month to watch and support my partners rugby season but the visa process has been hard to navigate. Fingers crossed we get good news by the end of this week!
Leaked information about Japanese International Airport's tax free purchases will start requiring evidence of living outside of Japan starting on April 1, 2023. If this is true, maybe the mass of foreign tourist won't start until then? In any case, it seems a Japanese person will need to show from Family Registry Appendix (Koseki no fuhyo) to show they don't really live in Japan to be exempt from tax on purchases made within the post passport control shops in an international airport in Japan. I wonder for foreign visitors, what the requirements might be–maybe the Passport with Temporary Visitor stamp will suffice because if you're residing in Japan with a residence card, you wouldn't have a Temporary Visitor stamp on your passport. But if the requirements starting on 4/1/2023 for tax free shopping is the same as with other tax free shops outside of the airport, there will be a minimum and maximum amount of purchase eligible to be exempt from tax.
You will still need to be triple vaxed or PCR tested. The gov is also looking at testing your poo.
I already have a December flight picked out if they lift restrictions. I know the Japanese have a quirky way of doing things, but it is time to move on. I wandered around Europe for a month this summer. Everything was fine. Get our vaccinations and boosters and hit the road. Thank you for your updates and content 🇯🇵
I've my plane ticket since December last year and my bookings since January
I won't get too excited until we see the details, but this is definitely good news!
To get 100% current regulations contact the Japan Consulate in their state ( i.e. Ca. & AZ it is LA). There is a box that lists forms needed and who is allowed in etc. Any other info is just an opinion.
Thanks for this. It seems more news are saying october is the month where they would let it open. But this being japan, the how matters a lot just like all the previous reopenings. Will they limit it to some countries at first and then expand? Let's hope for the best.
this is one of the videos i liked the most from you, so maybe off script is the way to go ?
Hi Nathan. Watching from Manchester. Hope you are well. The content and style of this video is excellent – thank you! Let's hope things will move quickly now. The visa waiver is the only stumbling block now I think. Kind wishes. Joan Nagase.
Pushed my honeymoon from October to March right before this announcement 😅 oh well. Spring trip will be a given at least

The influence of the daily cap to the decision for western tourists for travelling to Japan is near to zero. It is just a number which helps nowbody at the booking process. There‘s no situation where the travel agency said: ”Sorry, you are number 50.001 on Monday, we book you on Tuesday.“

Where can I find a Japanese Tour Operater/Travel Agency where I can book my tour package? I am into booking my hotel and flights for myself. Or can go to a EU travel agency and they can‘t help you abroad. And BTW… a rule which gives Japanese travel agencies and airlines an opportunity because they have a quasi monopoly on trips to Japan, but Japanese people can book at Japanese travel agencies and airlines when they travel to Europe or North America seems to me as a violation of the JEFTA and U.S.-Japan Trade Agreement. EU and American travel agencies cannot organize these travel packages.

VISA requirements
It’s a complicated thing and costs 12.000 yen. Japanese people can travel without a VISA to the EU, Swiss, UK, USA and Canada. The reciprocity principle is violated for months by Japan.
Looking great man you look very fit now in comparison to the last time I watched! Just in time for reopening!
Where are you from????originally
We are coming to Japan in November!!!
