Thanks Ninja 🐒
Greetings from California. Once again thank you for keeping us informed.
I would not travel anywhere without insurance.
Thank you for the update! I wouldnt travel anywhere without insurance or a mask. Soon my friends, soon! We have waited over 2 years for these moments, whats a few more weeks. ☺
Some might disagree with this but I'm all for
– vaccines
– insurance
– rules
if there is another wave. japan should just ignore it and accept that this is just part of life
so close yet so far🥺
I heard the Japanese government will allow solo travelers to enter if you had 3 vaccines done or show a negative PCR test.
Just got email from the US consulate:
Japan eVISA [Notice of suspension of visa application process]
Thank you for appplying for Japan eVISA.
unvaccinated still needing to be testing is silly.
Hi Nathan thanks for this video. I think it would be so much easier if the hotel taking the bookings are responsible for their visitors ⛩
Be prepared to wear your mask at all times even in outdoor areas that are not crowded at all. Cause the Japanese public expect you to wear your mask at all times
We should all wait to go back until all restrictions are lifted. No tours, no visas, no bs, just book and go. Why do you think things are moving along quicker than they have in the past? People aren’t traveling there because no one wants to put up with this garbage.
If they remove the tour requirement, I’m ok with vaccinations, insurance, and testing. As visitors, we should be respectful of a country’s concerns and values. I went to Singapore earlier in 2022 with all those visa and testing reqs, but it was worth it to move freely and totally reasonable considering that we’re still in a pandemic. As long as we can travel independently, it’s ok.
are you wearing don don donki t-shirts? Don Don Donki is now open 2 stores in Malaysia.
The easiest way for Japan to throttle the daily entries is working with airlines to limit the number of flights. This way there is no excuse for not being prepared for the flood of tourist.
what a marathon~ will see you in japan after we finish this race and beer you up~ lol japan open leader~ lol
If Japan requires us to wear a mask to come in. I will oblige. But travelers insurance or mask should be optional not mandatory. As well as vaccines. Many people can’t take the vaccines for health reasons. People saying they should do this are selfish and brainwashed. I don’t agree with mask mandates or vaccines being required to enter. Even though I am vaccinated I disagree with it being mandatory. It’s B$.
Japan's reopening is kind of like Chinese water torture. The info comes in drips of information some hopeful, and some just murky. Take your pick on what's hitting your forehead.
I am fine if they wish to keep the insurance and vaccination portion. They can do those in steps but least let's get the borders open and remove the visa , allow people to travel on their own. I think most who come to japan are accustomed to their risk culture so we can adapt if they wish to put some minor restrictions.
Locked out for 26 months in my case. Getting strung along a few more weeks..at least we can see the end.
I agree that it is likely the insurance requirement will remain. I suppose they can expand the eVisa to more than just U.S. and Canadian Citizens and during the eVisa approval process, they can check the insurance. Either that or they'll just roll it into MySOS or some other application so that you can show your vaccination status and your insurance status in advance before the flight departs.
I sorta jumped the gun since my flight is less than a month away. I ended up getting my ERFS certification and am now waiting for eVisa approval.
I would imagine that they wouldn’t drag it out like they usually do, because the yen won’t get any stronger. Unless they take the only course of action that will really fix their economy- that being of course opening the border to be like it was in the past. I’ve looked around and you can get a quality hotel room for as cheap as 500 USD for a *month*. That just shows how bad the economy has gotten, and the governor of Tokyo has realized that the longer they push it off, the worse it’s going to get.
Of course we all know never to get your hopes to high knowing the strict structure of Japanese culture and politics. However, this is one of the times where I think change is futile and brings me hope, that me and tons of other people will finally be able to fulfill their life plans or get their life in order. Thanks as always Nathan!
The rules to follow will always be posted on the consulate website.
Personally I don't mind the Visa. They don't seem hard to get, just time consuming. But we aren't going until July '23, so I'm kinda expecting things to be normal by then.
thank you
Thanks for your good and level headed comments. Internal pressures, external pressures (incl Ninja Monkey) and weak yen (economic) pressures are working to help move things faster than otherwise would happen. Finish line is close.
If they do open back up do you think it will be as easy as just showing up with a passport. Maybe just paying for that “visa on arrival” that some countries have (as a way to generate money). I do not want to send off my passport to an embassy and have to fill out paperwork like I am a criminal. There are a lot of places who act like they actually want tourists.
Does 3rd shot has any expiry date? By the time I go to Japan, it will be well over year since I got it 😀
Hi.. Are tourists from yellow group countries allowed into Japan?
even if there's another wave (and there probably will be), i understand japan may look to recategorize the covid, just like many countries already have, which means most of the existing sanitary regulations would go away.
Nathan. Great to hear such better news thanks to yourself and others plus Davide Rossi's great efforts. Keep well and thank you so much on behalf of all of us waiting to travel to Japan. Best wishes. Joan Nagase.
Good Day, Nathan. As I finish this week in Singapore, after my week in Vietnam; I'm reminded that people still wear masks in both of these countries for different reasons and I was happy to follow those rules as a visitor in their countries. Generally speaking, people wear masks in Vietnam, a continually developing country, because of air quality concerns, and in high traffic areas, I was happily wearing my mask as well. Here in Singapore, which is a developed country, wearing a mask is still CoVid driven, but still I'm happy to wear a mask in crowded environments and public transit. It seems that Japan isn't aware that the majority of visitors are fine with "following the rules", so to speak. I'm sure there will be a problematic tourist eventually, but those also existed before CoVid. I guess if Japan wants to continue "Gatekeeping" it's own culture, then it shall be as it is…
Hi Nathan, I’m not vaccinated how does the process work for someone who wants to go to Japan? 😊
Sorry bro it’s not you didn’t provide some answers here, but in reality you didn’t provide any answers only questions.
What a waste of time.
Do better next time and be thoughtful
