The Chikugogawa Fireworks Festival has often been voted as the best fireworks festival in Kyushu, Japan. With a history of more than 350 years, it is also one of the oldest in Japan!

During this summer festival, thousands of fireworks are launched from multiple locations along the Chikugo River making for a beautiful evening sight. Food stalls are filled with Japanese street food so you can enjoy snacks like yakitori, takoyaki, hashimaki, and kakigori. People are dressed in beautiful yukatas as wel.

This is one of the best summer festivals to see in Kyushu and is easily accessed from Fukuoka Prefecture. If you are planning to travel to Japan in the summer, this is an event you won’t want to miss!
