In Thailand you can find a lot of tasty and very delicious food.

Now this dish definitely divides opinion between Jerry and I. It is called Dancing Shrimp. (Goong Ten) The word dancing is due to the fact that the shrimp is still alive when you eat it. Dancing shrimp is a traditional Isaan dish which is very popular in North East Thailand.

The shrimp are marinated in a salty, sour and spicy mixture of chilli, lime ,fish sauce, coriander and onion. You can find Dancing shrimp (Goong Ten) being sold by numerous street vendors along the lake in Phayao, Thailand.

  1. I remember watching a friend of mine eating those dancing prawns in Phayao, in my head all I could think about was how they must be burning up with all the chilli!

  2. "So you have to feel sorry for pork and chicken" that made me laugh great reply. When I was in Kalasin I had red ants in a salad but like you I will take a pass on the dancing shrimp.

  4. I've tried drunken shrimp ( live shrimp in an alcoholic sauce) in China didn't like it much. Prefer my shrimp to be dead and cooked .
