Will people want to cruise again? And if so, who will they be and why? Who will no longer want to cruise and why? I take a look at 5 different types of travellers that are key to cruising in the past and look at who is likely to want to cruise, and who will look for land-based vacations instead of cruising.

yeah i will
Booked for February, hoping the vaccine will be available and easily accessible by then. Won’t go until we get the vaccine that’s for sure!
If they board only 50% of capacity to help with some social distancing (impossible on a cruise ship?), then I will consider cruising again (9th time). I just hate the huge crowds everywhere like pool, casino, cigar bar, buffets shows, musters etc. When(if?) things go back to normal, I'll cruise again.
I'm not concerned. We're frequent cruisers, about 40. I probably caught colds or flu on at least five cruises and probably COVID in January, but won't stop me cruising in the future.
I will cruise for sure. But will avoid flying for awhile. Airports and airplanes don't even come close to the needed sanitation.
I'm Booking ASAP
i'd go tomorrow.
I'm out….no more for me!
I definitely will scene as I know this pandemic is a plandemic you are all being stitched up by your governments wake up people
A big factor in deciding whether to return to cruising will also be how easy it will be to travel to the ports where the cruise starts especially if you have to travel overseas. I foresee a lot of travel restrictions being in place for the next 12-18 months. So would someone risk purchasing a cruise fare only to then be faced with problems getting to the departure port.
I think your analysis is spot on. My wife and I are in our mid-sixties. We've only been on two cruises (7 days each). Loved them both. We are currently booked on a November (2020) Disney cruise through the Panama Canal. It's a one way 14 day cruise from Galveston to San Diego. We are nervous and excited. The way things are going, I'm guessing that we will have to book a later cruise. Disney's next Panama cruise is in March of 2021.
I am one of those people who hates schedules during vacation. Because I already had to endure schedules and meetings at work. Therefore, no, cruise is not for me.
If we can't cruise than what good is life to us anyway?
Out of these cold dead hands will you find My boarding pass.
Not only no, but hell no!
Hats off to those of you sailing later this year. I'm probably going to cruise again, but there's no way in hell I'm going to be part of the first few rounds of guinea pigs
As long time cruisers (54 to date) both ocean and river, we feel that until there is a vaccine we are not boarding a floating petri dish.
Media is just out for ratings. OMG, what will they report once the impeachment thing ended, oh, the virus… OMG, what will they report once this virus thing is behind us. I bet they find another crisis!
I just booked an Alaskan cruise with balcony for this summer (yeah probably will get canceled). I'm hoping for a quarantine. Free room and board, and I don't have to interact with people.
Looking at the crowd at Georgia opening malls … people are still not educated on social distancing… really biggest issue cruise line has to overcome
The health certificate. I think it will be deemed illegal in U.S.
I'm cruising.. life is to short to be scared and hide. Just be cautious and wash your hands. Don't touch your face. Keep distance when possible. And above all keep faith in your God. Live life . Keep on Traveling on. Be safe.
NCL is almost forcing us to rebook our cruise ASAP because they are offering an increased credit. With the credit were getting if we book before May 15th we can actually book two cruises. It's just too good of an offer
People below saying they'll continue to cruise must be the nearly dead.
For me, Mabe ??? in 3-5 years
I am a frequent cruiser, and its supposed to be a vacation not a interrogation, so I will not be back until its service as normal.
Most people will forget about all this after a couple of years, cruising will come back, will take a couple of years though.
I cannot wait to embark a ship again hopefully very soon. I do not believe the cruise industry will die from this. I’d rather spend 7 days at sea then 7 hours in a plane. Not because of “coranavirus” but simply because I hate flying and love being aboard a ship, nope!! As soon as I can I will book another cruise or crossing.
Ticket is now booked for August 2020! Thank you vwry much for the unbiased insight.
Yes, I fit that group of 2 cruises and not going back anytime soon. I will cruise in the future post vaccination. But I am going to wait on the vaccination. Not going to be one of the first that gets one of these rush jobs either. But man do I hate missing out on all of these deals! 🤣
I asked my travel agent to send me info on all inclusives. I just feel like maybe our embassy would help faster than the government with a cruise ship. Can you imagine calling your boss after you already took of for a 16 day cruise to say you don't know when you will be able to get back?
diamond princess and hurtigruten. thats enough and says it all. crusining is awesome. not the way that they took care of the situation and I dont see till 2022 to consider it again. but im quite pissed how greedy they are just to sail but have no implementation of safety rules. and you cant keep them. because people wont. its the people who violate rules. they do as they want
I would get on a cruise ship TODAY if I could! 💖🥰 Scheduled for 2021! Can't wait!
I loved my first cruise in 2019; still I will not go, especially with my family until the CDC and WHO announce they have an effective and mass produced vaccine for the Coronavirus. I agree, cruise lines will be forced to adjust seeing senior citizens at the greatest risk from viral pandemics. Luxury ocean liners did not disappear after the 1918 flu pandemic and World War I; cruising will not disappear when medical technology and the ability to develop vaccines and anti-viral medications in far more advanced in 2020.
Im close to 10 cruises and just booked January 2022 Nor Encore; my TA is well aware that if there's "ANY" type of restrictions in place to exclude the full service buffet we are out!!
