With a height of 3,776.24 m, Mount Fuji, also known as Fugaku, is the tallest mountain in Japan (12,389.2 ft). It is the seventh-highest peak on an island in the world and the second-highest volcano on an island in Asia.
A dormant stratovolcano, Mount Fuji last erupted between 1707 and 1708. On clear days, the peak can be seen from Tokyo, which is located roughly 100 kilometers (62 km) to the southwest of it. The unusually symmetrical cone of Mount Fuji, which is covered in snow for about five months of the year, is frequently utilized as a symbol of Japan in art and photography as well as being a popular destination for tourists and climbers.
For those traveling throughout Honshu, the main island, Shizuoka is a tranquil rest point. In the west of the prefecture, Mount Fuji rises. The Izu Peninsula is bordered by the foothills of its volcano. There are many resorts and hot springs in the vicinity. Shizuoka is the greatest location to drink sencha (tea produced using entire tea leaves) directly from the source and also produces more than half of all green tea consumed in Japan.
