Singapore’s “Little Thailand”, Golden Mile Complex is being sold. All tenants are going to either close down completely or move out by May 2023. I came to check out its current state.

I stopped liking the place when i heard they were looking down on locals who worked there but didnt speak Thai.

How many times they say Golden Mile Complex will be gone but it never happens lol
The history of Little Thailand at Golden Mile Complex goes back to to 1970s to early 1990. During that period Sg was undergoing great development with plenty of constructions going on. That time, a lot of Thai construction workers come to Sg to work and congregate at Golden Mile Complex. Thailand also went through & . boom period in the late 1980s to 2006. So in the 2000 onwards most Thai construction workers went back to Thailand or to Dubai that is there are very few Thai construction workers in Sg. The shops selling Thai food / products serve those who stay put in Sg.
Recommended there a hidden jem in rivervale plaza sengkang, sweet reservations k-20, Korean bingsoo deserts 😋

お店や椅子、売り物もカラフルなのに薄暗くて、人がいっぱいで賑わってるのに怪しさがあって面白かったのに…。タイのスーパー好きで毎回行ってたので残念です😫
Thank you for taking this video. I still remember I used to visit one of the shop 30 yrs ago to buy Thai Song CD as they were no internet or youtube that time. It was the place for Thai foods but now we can eat Thai food everywhere in Singapore.
Golden Mile Complex is identified with Thais, Peninsula Plaza is identified with Burmese, City Plaza is identified with Indonesians, Lucky Plaza is identified with Filipino.
Not sure if u try the link between this building and the next building at night?
A lot of history will only be preserved by live-streamers. Next generation will only be able to know Golden Mile Complex by watching recorded walkabout streams like this.
