  1. I have watched a million (it seems) English speaking vlogs of people living and visiting Japan, and Hiroshima too. This is by far the best most sensitive informative one I have ever seen. I am so impressed that you came full circle to the place where your teacher sent your paper crane to (class) Even though you didn't remember till then, it was really amazing to me. I cried watching this vid, I'm easily old enough to be your mom, ya, i'm awed! Thank You! Enjoy all your vids, this one was sad!

  2. Wow, thanks! I haven't watched this video in a really long time, I need to watch it again to remember what it contains!

  3. I have not seen anything but I have also not really looked for it. There is a sense at the Hiroshima memorial that Japan acknowledges it was misbehaving and the allied forces attacked as a result of their actions. I don't think there is a huge cover up and I do think people here accurately understand how things were played out during the war, if that's what you are getting at.

  4. We are very unaffected by all of this where we live. I went up to a tsunami effected area last summer, look up Shichigahama on our channel.

  5. We don't even think about radiation at all at this point. When we first moved here, I would get handout about the levels of radiation in Kumagaya, but that stopped back in 2011. I think that Kumagaya is doing okay now!

  6. I do think it's great that they give the kids a lot of trust and responsibility, but it's at a price of quality for work. Instead of having nice, clean schools, they have cruddy schools because they live the care up to the students and not professionals. The students are super well behaved though. I am lucky to be teaching here and not in the states! I can't imagine how much the kids would walk all over me there!

  7. I think it's more about the structure's geometry. It does not have much surface area, so the "wind" didn't knock it over. Still impressive, though!

  8. The paper cranes story with the girl is so sad, and interestingly pointed out in Ghost in The Shell:Stand Alone Complex, with the"Individual Eleven Case" season in which the main villain folded hundreds of paper origami cranes in the hospital as a kid.

  9. You know, as much as Japan may have pushed the US in the war, the people who died in Hiroshima didn't deserve what happened :C Let's hope something like that never happens again.

  10. ill be visiting hiroshima in four months when i go to japan..and to be honest..i have a feeling im going to cry at this place because i feel guilty for what america did..and haters can say what they want..but we did something very wrong back then..

  11. Such a horrific time in our history. Thank you for doing your homework, Eric, it really helped bring your visit to life for me as a viewer.

  12. I was there in 2001. Seeing this video brought me back. Especially seeing the A Bomb Dome. I remember everything being so quiet, even in a decently sized city. It was eerie.

  13. This is such a sobering video. Once again, I'm impressed at the dignity you handled the topics with. This one is also almost at documentary level, and coming from me, I promise that's a compliment. Looks like such an intense experience.

  14. I just hope that in the future no one will drop a nuke bomb on any city because it kills so many people.
