Join me as I head to the historic Tibidabo Amusement Park in Barcelona, Spain for my first ever visit. In this vlog I experience everything this mountain top amusement park has to offer, including spectacular views and awesome rides. I share POV footage from all of the major rides including a fantastic family roller coaster with stunning views of Barcelona. Along with that I share the history of Tibidabo and ride a number of older vintage rides including a unique aeroplane ride that dates back to 1928!

  1. Got to do that park Shawn. Those views are bloody awesome. Thank you very much, going to look at booking a trip.

  2. The reason why is no much thrill-rides in this park is that is PortAventura in 1h distance by car or 1:20 by train. Tibitabo is great for toddlers and young kids, my children really enjoyed it, we had the annual pass too, now (they are 7 and 8) we are going twice a year to spend some days in the PorAventura World resort, and next summer we'll go again and thanks to your videos we will go to Phantasialand and EuropaPark.
After your video we will go this week to Tibidabo. Thank you for your work.

  3. In the museum you should wait to turn the lights green, but the children go around pressing them as quick as posible.

  4. Glad you enjoyed my home park 😀 Few years ago it was way better. Nowadays the park has changed to a more kiddie oriented park (not family though). The views are, in my opinion, the best attraction the park can give, and makes it so unique.

    Let's give some notes…

Muntanya Russa is one of the best family coasters, as you said. It is well known at the Vekoma portfolio, and it is very famous because of its drop facing the city. Pacing, intensity, and sense of speed are excelent, for general public and for enthusiats. This is so hard to achieve, but they did an excelent job. And I was one of the three ride ops that dispatched the first train, so it is impossible for me not to have it on my heart.

Hurakan is going to be removed because of maintenance costs and will be replaced with trampolines (yes, the second for the park).

The suspended monorail (Embruixabruixes) is a dark ride wich has been renewed recently, but has the reputation of being one of the worst conversions ever made. It is closed because of the COVID.

For Hotel Krueger, they mark your wirstband with a 6 every time you ride. When you get 666, you are not allowed to visit the Hotel again.
At the bibliotheque, they say "This is a nightmare, and as all nightmares you can wake up. Though that door you'll find the real world: the salvation. If you decide to stay here, your nightmare will keep going… Does somebody want to wake up?" Then, the guy opens the secret passage and tells everybody to go. It's a nice touch 😀

For Museu de Automatas, it is known that Walt Disney wanted to buy the entire collection when he visited back in the 50'2, so he gave a blank cheque just for the park to set the price, but the park did not sell any of their pieces. Some of them date before 1900, and the latest is from 2017 🙂

Lights for rides at the top turn off only for the light show 😉 I think is not an awesome show, but is ok for a park like this.

Operations are always fine. What is not great is capacity at some rides, as you said. What can you expect of a ride that lasts around 5 minutes from load to load and has 10 person capacity? That is why Avió has 1h30' in average, but you can not go faster (I was ride operator there so I can ENSURE that). And for the powered coaster, few years ago it ran with 9 36 pax) coaches, but nowadays runs with 7 (28 pax). That reduces capacity on 25%… With 9 coaches I had, with very efficiente load/unload times (less than 60 seconds bettween dispatchs), queues of around 30-45 minutes, so now you should expect easily over an hour…

As I said, so glad you enjoyed this hidden jewel of the amusement parks history 😀

  5. Went here around 20yrs ago as a kid. Had to take a bus up to it. Dont think the train existed. Remember it was a maze of rides on a hill. Thank you for posting! Lots of memories flooding back!

  6. 2:30 That elevated monorail looks like the tram at the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, MO, except it goes outdoor and takes you to an amusement park when you get off.

  7. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the whole Spain trip and also the travel info is very helpful, out of all the parks this one floats my boat the most I love it's history and unusual rides, atmosphere the whole trip, I simply have to come and visit. Thank you so much for sharing your Spanish adventure with me.

  8. Honestly I’m totally speechless what an amazing 🤩 unique park which is combined with the historic buildings spectacular views and most of all the church with its beautiful interior of art designs, the museum was really cool too. However attraction wise there’s always bound to be some unexpected Spanish rides like the dark hotel lol 😆, I’ve never been to mainland Spain although I’ve visited the other Spanish islands – Ibiza, Tenerife, Portugal, mostly Majorca as they have an awesome mini theme park directly in magaluf’s strip including an upside house called Katmundu as they’ve got some really unexpected awesome unique theme parks splash parks too , I forgot to mention south west of Majorca they have a spectacular pirate show too. Anyways as for this vlog I absolutely thoroughly loved watching this vlog I enjoyed every minute of this from start to finish, Thank you ever so much Shawn for making this vlog. I can’t wait to see your other latest vlogs

  9. Hi shawn if that 100yearold rail 🚈 was closed all year round that tells u that something is not right shame that would have been fantastic awesome 👏 great views stunning aswell that tells that something is wrong with that park otherwise Looks awesome park to go to the views of Barcelona were awesome and stunning Boy bet u got some views and photos one for the album. Sounds like u also had a good 👍 time ⏲️ aswell. Bet u had a problem inLeaving. Did u have to be dragged out kicking and screaming 😱.

  10. Muntanya Russa should be called Jr. Intimidator 305 due to the turn at the end of the drop, the red track and its rapid fire transitions.

  11. Aw f that. So high lol I went on the Blackpool wheel and am not scared of heights but that was too high for me lol I even hurt my leg on the central pier wheel.

Some of the views from this park is lovlie. I love a good view but not on a ride

  12. Great vlog as always. One thing though, there are at least four amusement parks older than Tibidabo (Bakken, Prater, Tivoli and Gröns lund).

  13. How do we actually purchase tickets for this park? When we try booking on the website it says we have to enter a (spanish?) tax/id number which we do not have! Can you help us out? Lovely vlog by the way!

  14. really the amount of rude or respectless people who waves or makes funny faces in the background of peoples vlogs is kinda unrespectfull

  15. as far as I am aware that's the only back seat POV of muntanya russa.. Did the back seat have any airtime down the main drop?

  16. Come on, be objective. I am planning a trip to Barcelona next May. Looked up this attraction and guess what. Does not open in May. So please start mentioning down sides as well as what you enjoy

  17. You may find this hard to believe but SFMM once had a transport vehiculum called the Dragon. It along with not one but two different sky-lifts and a steam train and monorail that made it much easier to get around in the park. I'm just remembering your struggle on your prior visits.

  18. i actually live near barcelona and my parents were married in the church on top of tibidabo

  19. Awesome video, the automated displays in the museum need to rest for about 5 mins after they were last used. Then the green light is lit. Not ideal if you go on a busy day like yourself
