I had khao soi first at Dash in Chiang Mai. I was blown away. Thankfully there are some folks from there over here in Boston when I have to have a fix.

Try Madame Musur, if you find yourself around the Khao San area. It's at the far end of Ram Buttri (towards the river), just after the 90 degree bend in the lane. It's been shut for a while, because of the situation, but hopefully open again now. They serve some good Northern Thai food.
