  1. Thanks for the travel update.
56:42 flew back to Japan 1 week ago as residence. I had the same experience, residence was allowed to leave the plane first. I landed in Narita airport.

  2. I have to travel for work in probably like three weeks. I have all my stuff already set to go (visa, passport, etc.) except for the test 72 hours prior. Is there an updated list of the best places to go that the Japanese govt will accept? I was thinking Walgreens since you said that you considered them. I'm American so they're all around me.

  3. So like I was curious I was talking to a couple girls over there and then covid supposed to go over there and have a vacation finally when japan reopens opens let's say we decide to meet everything works out and everything how would I move to japan I love everything thing japan food history technology cars anime just wondering

  4. Just based on a my understanding of Abe's scandal, it was more about how little it cost him and his campaign to throw extravagant parties for his supporters due to the donated liquor, food, venue space and gifts which should have been reported as campaign contributions instead of going unreported which keeps donor amounts secret which can be seen as bribes to politicians who may be doing favors in return or working behind the scenes to influence court decisions or put pressure on legislation beneficial to donors.

  5. Hoping for Japan to re open by November! It's very disappointing to see Japanese nationals travel freely while everyone else is still locked out. Everything that can be done for this pandemic has been done and it's time to move on.

  6. When you was on Live on ANN News YouTube channel the Governess of Tokyo was on talking about the situation and other things to you may want to check her speech out. On Italy 🇮🇹 and London YouTube walking channels I’ve seen Locals and tourists out with masks and no masks on site seeing and nightlife places to. I’ll wait till next year. Sound on video 👍🙏⛩🙏🇧🇱📸.

  7. stop going on about the fucking vaccines and boosters. I'm sick of hearing it. The new Japanese Pm is a joke and is brainwashing people.

  8. I am supposed to transit through Tokyo in the first week on January on the way home from Europe. I am feeling so stuck and depressed over it. Can I change my ticket and stay in the Europe for those few extra days? Can I spend four day stay at the airport? Can I just get a ticket for Seoul for a few days? GAAAAAH! In some ways, I dont mind that they are closed but at least give travellers the respect and set out a roadmap for the future.

  9. went back last week thru HND airport, everything went smooth show my SOS blue at check in with ANA, no need other thing else but make sure you color stays blue in your apps. When arrived in HND open your cell phone and stay alive with mySOS, the staff will guide you thru blue lane express all the way to your passport & apps QR code check up desk, then proceed to immigration/custom, pick up your suitcase and on your way out. It was much easier than last time which I needed another PCR test upon arrival at NRT. The whole process was almost 3 hours of wait before. Crazy…

  10. Hello, I'm from the UK 🇬🇧 and I booked my flight to Japan in December 2022.

    What do you guys think?
Would there be a high possibility that Japan will be open for independent travelling for foreign nationals by then?

    I really really hope so!

Also, my flight can be re-booked many times and is refundable, which is good.

But in terms of my free time, it will only be December for this year. And I’m really hoping to go because I would like to spend my Christmas in Japan!

  11. thank you again John. so pleased you are still producing such informative and interesting programmes. hope Japan will make it easier for travellers who want to visit.

  12. Good morning John, I have looked recently MoFa of japan 🇯🇵, not long ago just doing my homework. It seems blue countries that are allegeable to get in easily and there is fast track application to make things go smooth. At the end it seems still can’t go unless you are with a travel agencies in Japan. Business, diplomatic and meeting families in Japan are allowed easily. Waiting for the right time to allow us freely. UAE 🇦🇪 is one of the Blue countries so almost there.

  13. Not even duty free shop for stop-overs in Japan means MORE tourists dollars to spend in the Philippines. Instead of Kit-kat you take home dried mangoes, durian candies and also lots of hang overs for the tons of cheap booze that can be drank every night partying on beach bars in Boracay ^_^

  14. Oh and i believe the question was how did pewdiepie and his wife got visa's and even drivers license coupled with a "left hand drive car" to drive in japan? Magic!

  15. Have basically given up on Japan this year and booked my autumn and winter trip to South Korea. I have a feeling that the government there wants to control the number of foreigners coming in and also prefer certain types of tourists, ie wealthier ones rather than ordinary people like me. Will see next year.

  16. Hi John, in Singapore, you can drink the tap water directly too. It is safe for drinking.
But with the COVID still ongoing, drinking tap water might be a bad idea , unless you collect the water with a clean container/bottle.

  17. Business Visa holder here, I just got back from Shinjuku and I had no issues with hotels. I made my reservation a month before my visa was issued and 2 months before my trip. This story of the hotel canceling an October reservation because the guest was a foreign passport holder seems highly unlikely because there is no way the hotel can know your passport or visa status through the reservation. Businessmen pass through Shinjuku all the time and three international college basketball teams were staying at my hotel, I just can't imagine this happening.

  18. To be fair, John. I was saying everything you're saying two years ago. And you were strongly against it. I know it took different people a different amount of time to get to the same conclusion. But it was always obvious from the start that literally everyone will catch COVID at some point and it'll basically be the flu. Hiding from it does nothing. Also, it was always wrong that Japanese people were always allowed to leave and return with no issues. Yet foreigners have always been looked at as "dirty". I loved my trip to Japan in 2019, but their handling of the pandemic has forever altered my view about Japan. Everything they're doing can be boiled down to being xenophobic.

  19. It’s almost silly to think Japan will fully open in the winter time given people get sick
more frequently as temperatures drop. I think if border not open by middle of October I think it’ll be a 2023 reopening probably late February Early March. This is a prime example of an incompetent administration I’m sure Americans can relate.

  20. Just by reading comments in other Japanese videos talking about tourism, many Japanese people seem really enjoy travel domestically without foreign tourists. They are still blaming foreigner bring the COVID. Some extreme comments even saying all foreign companies should sell their Japanese company. Of course not all Japanese people are like that, but by reading those comments, it makes me worry when they open, will foreigners be treated badly by those Japanese people.

  21. One thought for the Japanese government. What about just open as before.. hmm Why make hurdles that don't need to be there. No Visa on arrival for years still? No.. No just no. Japanese coming to travel everywhere else but we are not allowed in pisses me off the most.

  22. There was an article about delta increasing the number of flights starting october 31st. Would you mind reaching out to varying airlines for similar quotes. Maybe they are getting insider info.

  23. I l-o-v-e your videos ! Thank you to be a voice for us, foreigners who wants (badly) to travel to Japan ! ⚘

  24. I have one question:
Have the prices at Matsuya gone up?
It's my favorite gyudon place, and I'm afraid that inflation has dramatically increased their prices.

  25. Hi there,
I really appreciate your live stream last night. Watched it last night and finished in the morning. I have been in Japan twice still not cancelling my ticket for November this year. Some of my questions were asked and I am happy with your answers. More power to you and your channel. Hope to see you somehow on my next visit. I like the story people saying hello to you that recognize you. Take care.

  26. Hi John, thanks for the update. Probably a silly idea but what if someone put together a video of people who want to visit Japan with subtitles and try and get it shared around LINE or other social media? Not begging to get in, but maybe trying to make more people over there aware of the discrepancy of travel to/from the country since some people think that it’s open fully to tourism? Do you think that would have an effect on public perception or not?

  27. I am speculating some time in Sep/ Oct, as Scoot is promoting additional flights from Singapore to Tokyo as well as their new route to Hokkaido via Seoul starting Sep….

  28. Japan Post STILL hasn't bothered to even resume basic parcel deliveries to Canada, and in any case our own airports are such a hopelessly logjammed cluster-f that it makes international news. Completely ridiculous, incompetent handling of things on both sides of the Pacific. I wanted to visit again around October like I typically do, but I'm holding off until Easter now.

  29. I am also targeting March 2023 but not very optimistic. I start looking into South Korea. I really hope they can open to solo travellers by the end of this year. Fingers crossed 🤞

  30. Been wanting to visit Japan since 2019 & we had to cancel our trip due to pandemic in 2020. I hope Japan opens up completely in spring ‘23.

  31. Just cancelled my September trip to Japan, which was booked at the start of the year. Hopefully it will reopen by May next year. Thanks for the update.

  32. hey JOhn, why are you so negative about japan. it is quite disturbing. Why can't you just accept the japan way. why are you keep accusing this and that. you really need to lighten up.
