► I just discovered this temple recently – more or less by chance. It’s located in Higashi-Koenji, Tokyo, which is a pretty “offbeat”-area of Tokyo, that tourists wont find mentioned in most guidebooks. But this temple is really worth a visit, as visitors are allowed to access most of the buildings, which is a kinda rare opportunity, as opposed to other temples, where even taking photos are prohibited in mainbuildings and/or prayerhalls.
Easy access by Marunouchi Line. – Enjoy!

  2. Wow….Thank you very much for sharing this veeeery good video!^^ This style of
construction is called ''shinden-zukuri''(bridges the connects the buildings) which
    I like the best!^^

  3. 0:11 — first time i've seen that kind of bell/gong and ringing method. very nice, and auite extensive. did your visit coincide with a school tour?

  4. I'm just jealous of you now :/ And i'm very happy you post these videos make me want to move to Tokyo even more when i see your videos

  6. Very nice find, Thomas !!! Love all the wooden architecture of the building and hall ways . So neat and clean and very thing in order . The grounds are very nice also !! The architecture of the long hall ways remind me of several castles I have seen video's of, in Japan. I do not think I have seen a bell made quite like the one at the temple., very different . It is amazing that they let you video the main alter , most temples don't let you do that from what I have seen in different videos.
