The remains of Hagi Castle in Yamaguchi become one of southern Honshu’s best sakura spots, and is an often overlooked gem.
Hagi is a city on the Sea of Japan side with a large historical significance, especially from the late 19th Century. After the Meiji Restoration though, the feudal age was drawn to a close and numerous beautiful castles were destroyed…this one in 1874. Today however you can see the beautiful Shizuki Park with a unique variety of cherry blossoms.
