  1. While I understand the gravity and sadness in what happened with Pearl harbour, I feel that the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings has to be one of the vilest thing to ever happen to mankind…129,000–226,000 innocent people killed in an instant, as others in other countries were ostracised because of their genes and race! Poor Mr Matsumura, may he rest in eternal peace!

  2. I’ve stumbled across your videos a few months ago. Thank you for the effort and cost of putting together these stories. Keep up the good work.

  3. Such a beautiful but tragic story that needed to be shared with the world. Chris, the music was so beautiful and just perfect for this story! Really great job on this one! Keep hiking and sharing more stories. I check for new ones always!

  4. Awww, that means his kids should, hopefully, still be with us!?!

    Sad
Some do not learn from history
Fear of the unknown…is just as prevalent today
    Take care
    Stay safe
    🕊 🤗

  5. You mean, they didn't care to bring him down. Or why wouldn't they, it's not Mt. Everest…

  6. How many graves of that kind in the mountains to you know? Because officials didn't even take a look? Your mountains must be a single graveyard then.

  7. Thanks as always Chris. Please consider doing some more spooky stories? Ghosts, bigfoot, witches. Especially if you are in a dark forest. LOL. Great entertainment. Stay safe.

  8. Chris don't look around so much!! the BF👣 also love your histories he is always there followed by Dogman🐺 sitting somewhere out of your sight but listening to your voice….👣 🐺

  9. I really enjoy your story telling series. I am sure it is very time consuming doing all the research. There are sad times in our history but we need to learn from them. Great job.

  10. Thanks for the story, there is a old encampment near us here in So.oregon.Itwas in Tule Lake Ca.Also Noticed some lights behind your right shoulder, kinda strange…Have fun, stay safe

  11. I was born after WWII but my father's and mother's families were interned in Manzanar Relocation Center during WWII. My father was a Sergeant in the US Army and help move his family to Manzanar from Los Angeles. He was later transferred to the 442nd RCT and fought in Italy and in France. My mother's parents were the last to leave Manzanar when the camp closed near the end of 1945. I was told by a lady who went fishing near Mt. Williamson that it was not too difficult to leave camp and go fishing. I never knew about the story of Mr. Matsumura and my mother's maiden name was Matsumura but not related to the decreased. I was told stories about the relocation camps and no one like being interned for years. The camp had a hospital and there were many interned doctors and I spoke with one of them many years ago. The were a number of people who passed away in camp and their remains were removed after WWII had ended. I thank you for making a video about the ghost of Manzanar.

  12. Wow! This is an incredibly sad story. The fact that he really loved the area is the only saving grace to this sad story. Well done Chirs, you always go the extra mile and it really shows in you content.

  13. Hey Chris,
I'm a US Navy Veteran and the things that occurred during WWII hurt my soul. The attack on Pearl Harbor is still a sensitive spot for most sailors. Especially, Damage Controlmen like myself. With that said, I am disappointed and disgusted that U.S. citizens that were Japanese were stripped of their homes, belongings, livelihood, dignity and freedoms. Most young people have no idea it even occurred. I am glad that you chose to tell this story… his story. It brought out the "allergy" tears when you said he was a veteran and volunteered to get into the fight again. I salute you Sir! Keep up the great work. Take care. Stay safe and God bless 🙏

  14. These stories of missing person through hikes, camping on national parks have been incredible to listen to. Keep it up!!!

  15. Dont blow up Americans or support others that do=plus they had time to leave ..everyone KNEW war was coming.
History supports that Japanese people DID spy on and sabotage USA..its a fact.
    Too bad so sad
What do we hear about Japanese soldiers atrocities?? NOTHING..interesting

  16. As always excellent storytelling, 👌 need to do a overnight camp with campfire 🔥 and cook some chili in a pot over the fire while telling your story.

  17. This is such a heartbreaking story, Chris (has me in tears), but one that needs to be told and not forgotten. I wasn't born when WWII happened, and while I can understand the insecurity of our government after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, it seems such a travesty to have forced all Americans of Japanese descent living on the West Coast into "relocation centers".
They didn't force all Americans of German descent living on the East Coast into inland camps because of Hitler and the Nazis. Germany may have had subs off our Atlantic shorelines prepared to fire upon us. I have no idea, of course; just a thought.
I'm not saying German-Americans should have been rounded up; it just doesn't seem like there was equality being shown there. I'm glad I wasn't born yet.
The story of Mr. Matsomura is so tragic…. He survived serving in WWI, enlisted to serve in WWII, and yet he and his family lost all that they had when they were relocated. They had no home to return to. Then, just as he and his family would have been able to leave Camp Manzanar, he lost his life and his family lost their husband and father.
I'm so glad his family learned of what happened to him and that he had a Buddhist funeral in absentia. The camp did all they could to honor him.
I keep seeing the photo of him in his chef's hat as one of the cooks at the camp. How he was smiling, making the best of the situation. And how he found a love of watercolor painting while interred. He seemed like a nice, sensitive man. Husband, father, son, "American" Army veteran. Sorry for the long post, but this story is pulling at my heartstrings.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
I love your videos and stories; you're an excellent storyteller…. getting better all the time, in my opinion. Looking forward so much to Part 3 in this trilogy. Please stay safe out there and don't worry at all about this winter. Just chill your beer in the fridge (pretending it's a mountain stream), stay nice and warm and bring us your fascinating tales! Until next time, please take care.

  18. The government did the same thing to Germans living here during WW1, my father's family, 100% German were not put in a camp but their weapons were taken away and they were watched. That meant they were unable to shoot game for food and it was a huge hardship on them.

  19. Thank you Chris. Looking forward to the next chapter. All the best from Ernie in a remote hamlet in Dorset, England!

  20. Yes haw ,that bat that did a fly by you was a spirit wow that was wow ,you are a hero , try a genuine çan of Budweiser stream chilled of course in a video and that would be bliiss.

  21. I really enjoy these story videos, but are you still going to do trips too? I was looking back and its been a long time since you did one of the regular non story videos.

  22. Hi Chris, like I said before I love your storytelling no matter what it is about. You have this amazing talent to just draw people in. You're truly amazing. I'm intrigued 🤔 by every story. You know you don't have to go sit in the middle of nowhere or in the woods you can just sit by your fireplace and do what you do best by making it look as awesome as you always do and mix it up you love the outdoors well go in your back yard by a firepit which I know you must have or wait what about your hot tent I'm not sure if you still have that or not but that could be an idea.
Chris all I'm trying to say is that it doesn't matter where you are it's going to be great because you are the one telling the story. You could even be in your kitchen cooking dinner or not just sit in your kitchen lol 😆
No matter what you do or where you are it's going to be amazing and I'm going to watch no matter what.
Thank you for all the hard work and time you put into these amazing videos.
    You are truly awesome.
This story although very sad is really good, I like the way you have each story set in parts because each part is a story in itself and it's cool how they are connected and it's actually one story that has been created over decades.
Nice job Chris, you're Awesome as always!
    KEEP ADVENTURING
    GOD BLESS YOU
    🤗HUGS🤗

  23. That a terrible thing they did to Japanese American's . They sure didn't put any German American's in internment camps. Los Angeles fair grounds was originally an interment camp.

  24. Even though it’s tragic it’s still a beautiful story. I think it serves as a reminder to never judge an entire group of humans based on the actions of their government regardless of color, religion or political affiliation. We as a species should love each other no matter the dirty things governments do to provoke hatred and division.

  25. @26:38 it looks like an alien on the newspaper photo. My grandpa died before my dad was born flying over Japan. He was a tail Gunner and his crew fell in the Pacific ocean.

  26. Not unfounded at all. We didn't know who was dirty & who wasn't… Just like our country now
