Stoleshnikov is a side street in the Central District of Moscow. It runs from Tverskaya Square to Petrovka Street, crosses Bolshaya Dmitrovka, between Tverskoy Proezd and Kamergersky Lane, further turning into Kuznetsky Most Street.
The name of the lane is given by the outdated name of the tablecloth – table-top, which were made by weavers who lived here since the 17th century.
The first mention of the lane (then known as Rozhdestvenskaya Street) is contained in the spiritual letter of Ivan III in 1504. Rozhdestvenskaya street, the lane was named after the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin in Stoleshniki, which stood at the corner with Petrovka.
