I walked around Yoshiwara, which was the site of a brothel in the Edo period.
It used to be surrounded by high walls and waterways, with only one entrance, the Yoshiwara Ohmon.
It was also the area where prostitution continued to be practiced until 1958.
Although the scale of the industry has shrunk, many stores in the sex industry, called soapland, still operate today.
