❤️ Live a life of less junk, and more journey with our community: http://teamjourney.com
While RVing in San Francisco, we have clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl at Fisherman’s Wharf, tour the infamous prison Alcatraz, and watch the sunset over the Pacific Ocean with our kids. On a date night, we paddle into McCovey Cove for a Giants game and take a trolley ride.

I went down that street when I was a little girl and my dad was driving!!! The view was the same. I remember driving on the streets thinking we would slide backwards. Such great memories from watching this! We would go down to the Fisherman's Wharf and always, always get the BEST sourdough bread. So yummy!
Thanks for bringing us along!
Welcome to SanFrancisco! Always wondered if your family would come to see the Bay Area. We have a lot of nice suburbs in the East Bay. I hope you can visit Berkeley, Oakland and Marin, if not this trip, maybe in the future. Check out Sacramento, Ca. too if possible. I lived on Lombard st. In 1986. Oh, and those clam chowder bowls at the Wharf are nice. Too bad the kids can't enjoy the old bumper cars at Pier 39. That closed a long time ago.
Thanks for showing the city I grew up in!! <3. If you drive over to Treasure Island you can get a fantastic view of the Port of SanFrancisco. But right now, thieves are robbing people, it's worse than it ever was, so be careful out there in the city. They are bold these days, hopefully it will be a completely positive experience. The climate is good year round. No snow here! Bad weather is extremely rare. And thanks for showing Alcatraz, I haven't traveled there since the 1980's as well. Be very careful if you go to Twin Peaks! Avoid the Tenderloin with the kids, and stay out of Hunters Point and Sunnydale/ Visitacion Valley. Lol! Maybe you can all take a trip on BART. It goes under water across the Bay into to Oakland and the East Bay cities! It would be cool to see a video of you all riding BART too! Haha
If you come over to Berkeley, Ca. There is a nice dog park family trail area that runs along the water, beside Interstate 80. You can see all of San Francisco and the Marin hills from the East Bay side. It's a 15-20 minute drive from SF. There is a hotel on the waters edge and parking lots too. Be careful! Otherwise, it's a nice place to chill and see the golden gate bridge and San Francisco from the East Bay. The park is called Cesar Chavez and it's a beautiful hike around the waters edge. A relatively safe place for a single walker or family to stroll. Another park across from that is the Albany Bulb. That is a weird walk with old arts and an ex homeless camps, full of weird art structures, it has a hidden cement castle too. You can also see San Francisco from the Albany Bulb as well as if you stand in or on top of the castle, but it's sort of hidden. It is located between the city of Berkeley and Albany, Ca. near the water inside the bulb landfill area.. It has some neat trails, sort of a hidden gem. If you enjoy Thai, Indian and Mexican food dine in Berkeley, other than that have a great time..;-)
What a fantastic experience.,loved every min of it.
As usual you make everything fun and interesting glad you guys had a safe time!
Enjoyed revisiting San Francisco through your video..great place to visit
I love to visit San Fransico. I have the same Minnie Winnie you do and we took out our glass shower doors and put in a curved shower rod and a shower curtain. It gives more room. I love bridges too. It looks like you all had a great time.
Many of the Dirty Harry movies had some scenes filmed around Lombard St.
I watched your video of your visit. That was good enough for me.
How much fun! I lived there for a year when I worked for an Airline. I was a tourist for a year before being able to move back my Seattle base! Never made it to Alcatraz because of my schedule but Winchester Mansion was the BEST! Theft deterrent…have a visible red blinking alarm light visible from all windows including the back window. I got mine at an auto store.
Welcome to my home town.
Dang….their still forcing masks out there?
Great video! Nice adventure going out to see Alcatraz. Hope the kids enjoyed it and your sister. That sour dough with clam chowder looked good! That was nice you got to canoe with friends to listen to the Giants game on the radio. The trolley cars looked like fun. I had fun on this adventure with you. Thank you. Hope you had fun with you sister Marissa. Hope you have a great night and week! Safe travels.
Sorry didn't know you were coming to the bay. I would have offered to take you around. If you are still in the area I can give you some ideas or meet up.
Soooo AWESOME!
Oh this is going to be so cool for the kids if they haven’t already seen the new Minion movie. The Rise of Gru. Iconic part of movie is that street. Lol
Note: If you are going out of SanFrancisco, into the East Bay and North Bay counties there is no expensive Bridge Toll locally. However, going back into SF via Bay Bridge or San Rafael Richmond will cost $$. If you head towards Sacramento or Reno Nevada you will pay bridge tolls at the Carquinez bridge going north on Hwy 80 too! Safe travels! Reno Nevada is a popular Bay Area get away playground. Skiing in the Sierra Nevada during the winter, etc,. Enjoy the Bay and all its great vacation spots. The Sierra Nevada and Reno are only 4 hrs North of San Francisco. Reno has Circus Circus for kids! 😉
Oh my gosh…the kayaking to McCovy Cove is a dream! Harry's a HUGE Giants fan and he and Tory have actually been on a boat in the Cove during an A's/Giants game (she's A's, he's Giants! LOL!) so he really loved this part of the video! You guys had quite the time in SF…next time you are near we'll give you some insider places to go see! Loved seeing the City through your eyes!
We will be there at this September. Where did you park the jeep when going to Alcatraz?
Thanks bunches for sharing! 🖖🏻😘👍🏻🙏🏻
Just parking in San Francisco is an adventure. The last time I was in San Francisco I stayed in a hotel on fisherman’s wharf. I left my car in the hotel parking lot the whole time. I rode my bike across the Golden Gate each day and rode the cable car to the other places I wanted to go. The clam chowder in the sourdough bowl was great! I did eat at In & Out a couple of times. Love eating in China Town!
So glad you guys had fun 😊 .i from Sacramento. nice to have you near bye.
When you all drove up that iconic street that is so step did it bring out the Steve McQueen in both of you all. The October 1968 Movie Bullitt was filmed in and around some iconic streets of San Francisco. I know you all are a bit younger then I but you all should rent the movie after you have driven through those streets.
I just left a job last year after 7 years building girders for bridges. We built anything from 2 ton to over 100 ton, the biggest one was just over 100 ton. It was a awesome experience, but not something I was wanting to make a career out of.
Normally I would suggest that you take the kids to the museums in Golden Gate Park and the Tea Garden. Possibly the Conservatory, but you've pretty much covered everything out on your travels.
Surprised you didn't visit Coit Tower, such great views of the city. Paddling out to the cove (in Kayak McKayak?) is so cool! I love the idea of signing the board on it's adventures!
