The Australian Outback desert houses massive reserves of cobalt, manganese and gold – and is home to thousands of temporary workers in makeshift towns.
Deserts are the most haunting of all the Earth’s landscapes. Sometimes we think of them as vast empty spaces that dwarf and test our human spirit. But that view is wrong in so many ways.

  1. My dad (RAF) was seconded to the RAAF to Maralinga, Woomera, and also Christmas Island for the nuclear weapons testing during the 50s and 60s. All the protection from radiation they got was dark glasses and photo negatives, and told to wash their shorts and singlets after viewing the Christmas Island tests. He said the ELDO rockets mostly fell over at the launch pad. He said the Nullabor was nothing but goannas and spiders. But Adelaide was gorgeous.

  2. I'm never eating beef again now. I really hope this is just really outdated and that they don't really treat animals like that anymore, at least!

  3. It’s a shame what modern man is doing to the outback of Australia, destroying it for momentary greed. We should be looking to the aborigines to learn how to live on the earth.

  4. THIS COMMENT IS BASED ON MY OPINION ONLY. Don’t like it, keep scrolling! Well, once again, I choose a video to see the beauty of the Outback. Instead I see a narrated version of the White man’s greed on display by the enslavement of beast. One farm with enough beef to ship globally. Largest farm in the world. And I bet the Indigenous of Australia do not own that section of their native land NOR do they run the farm.😔

  5. what about talking about the real australians not european descendant (immigrant ) who left europ

  6. I was not going to sit here for 52 minutes and watch this , but I could not turn it off . Truly enjoyed this & do hope there are more like it . I could really feel Philips pain when he was trying to explain his injury , the emotional trauma just under the surface .. 7.

  8. I have travelled around this area quite a few times and it never fails to fascinate me. Had many a meal at the William Creek pub as well. Interested to know what the girls were doing with the drumming on their legs etc. They were certainly having a good time.

  9. Mis treating the animals by beating them with rod while loading them in truck. Very inhuman attitude. Had we have treated animals like this the animal protection organisation would have made loud hue and cry 😢 but here they are silent

  10. What an extraordinary example of to do about nothing for the first 3 minutes, let's see how this goes.
