I’m delighted to have Kazuki Arita as my guest on today’s Kyushu Live walk around Maebaru, Itoshima. Born and raised in Itoshima, Arita-san is a research historian specializing in Itoshima. He’s also a core member of “Jizakana Bank,” a group focused on supporting local fishing village culture – so along the way, we will stop by at least two places to taste some fresh seafood and maybe some sake too!

Here’s some related links – please check them out.

FAQ

Who are you?
Nick Szasz, a Canadian who has lived in Japan for about 35 years. Thirty-one years in Fukuoka, three in Tokyo, and one in Osaka. I’m the founder and publisher of Fukuoka Now magazine, a monthly printed bilingual magazine about Fukuoka and Kyushu for international residents and visitors from overseas. Fukuoka Now magazine: https://issuu.com/fukuokanow and Fukuoka Now website https://www.fukuoka-now.com/ – I live in Itoshima – and post about that here: http://www.itoshima-now.com/

Why are you doing this?
I love Kyushu, walking, and cameras, so this seemed like a perfect combination and fun. I hope to show off and connect Kyushu to the world, even in this small way. Please sit back, relax, and let me do the walking and talking!

Kyushu Live
PATREON(ファンがクリエイターを直接支援できるサービス)でも登録しているので応援してね!https://www.patreon.com/kyushulive

  1. Wow! I miss Maebaru. I once lived there with my family for about a year and did my 5-6th grade at Maebaru Shyogakou along with my two siblings. This video really brought back wonderful memories and I really wish to visit again! I can see some changes like new buildings. Wonderful!
