  1. On my own I stay in Shinjuku, when I’m with my family we use the Sheraton next to Disney Sea it’s brilliant for a family trip.

  2. Also……when’s the Patreon account coming???? Everyone loves a postcard club! 🎉

  3. I lost count too… i tried to count, but liked that I lost count.
Edit: I stay at Tokyo Hilton last 10-12 times. They all knew me by name… now who knows? But will NOT use Shinjuku Sta. Directly. Omg
Shinegawa for the first dozen-ish times nice access.

  4. hi Nathen good info,Ueno is a very nice place to stay, i,v done it, lots to do and surrounding areas, 👍😀🙏

  5. I make my choices by 1: which airport am I arriving at. 2: where I am leaving Tokyo to go to. 3: Price and value . So clearly Tokyo Station is the easiest to get to from both airports. Also leaving by Shinkansen, Tokyo is the place to be. Price ? Well Tokyo Station area is the most expensive. Ueno is easy especially from Narita, also easy to leave Tokyo and good value to stay. Shinjuku, yeh bit more difficult to get to but interesting evenings. Good value also. My next adventure might be Shinjuku after a few days to Tohoku region because I'll not be in Tokyo long and I'll head to Hakone/Fuji then on to Toyama/Kanazawa. The Fujikyu Express leaves Shinjuku early so I have a reason to stay there.
To sum up every holiday is different and while you can "go with the flow" I find that careful planning will return a much greater value holiday. ( ps. Every one is different, I would rather eat broken glass than go to Tokyo Disneyland yet for some people that is "motto mo juyona riyu" #1 reason)

  6. Good tips! My rules are: walking distance (< 5 mins) from a small but well connected station, not too busy a neighbourhood, close to food/supermarket/konbini. The last couple of times, I chose the Otsuka/Sagamo area, which was perfect. But I’ve also stayed in Asakusa a lot.

  7. Oh, another good spot is Akasaka. It’s as busy as Shinjuku, but it is classier, a little more upmarket. It’s not on the Yamanote line, but has three different subway stations at walking distance from each other. The entrance to one of them has a little restaurant mall, which includes a Sushi no Midori that hasn’t got the long queues the Shibuya branch has. ☺️

  8. Great video. Any news on when they will open up for us citizens. I got flights for me and my family last July and don’t want to move my date if they open soon

  9. Well you've done it. With your calming demeanor and accent mixed with great info, you're now my go-to guy for information regarding my possible upcoming trip in November (fingers crossed). Good videos my friend, keep on keepin on.

  10. Obviously, I'm speaking from personal experience. But if you're traveling with a group, staying in an AirBnB can open a myriad of additional options when searching for accommodations. Tokyo is absolutely packed with tons of unique and interesting AirBnB's.

  11. Good work Nathan; I can say you are spot on for your advice. It is sensible, thoughtful, and experience based. In my mind, East of the Imperial Palace and, West of it, are 2 mega cities. Each has lots to offer, but if one looks at it this way, walking in either is not too hard, with the other a medium train trip away. The first few years, I used to stay in Ikabukuro, and that was great, but now I spend more time / stay near Tokyo Station as it is a bit more convenient for my interests.

  12. Hello! Love your content and channel. It would be great if you could do more guides like this – what to know before you go, what to do and see in Tokyo, more itineraries.

  13. Fucking finally been looking for a video that comprehensively addresses this question

  14. I hope to visit Japan in August for my first time. Found a great and affordable AirBnB right between Shinjuku and Nakano. I'm already hyped for all the great places I can reach without even taking the metro. I think I will prefer the less touristy Nakano Broadway over Akihabara anyhow but it's not thaaaat far if I'm in the mood for Akihabara or Asakusa.
Hopefully they open up for tourism too in summer. I got all in and booked the AirBnB before some locals plan their tokyo stay xD

  15. Great video! Thank you for the advise. Planning my first Tokyo trip for September and wanted to research the best place to stay.

  16. Hey so i wanted to visit over the summer, any places you recommend if i want to bike a lot but still be able to drive into the country side?

  17. Thank you soo much for the info! Looking forward to watching more of your videos as we plan our trip for next year. 🌸
