I traveled to Hokkaido, the northernmost island of Japan. Hokkaido is located about 1000 kilometers north of Tokyo, and it is very cold and snowy during the winter months. It was a snowstorm on the way on this day as well.
On this day, I visited Hokkaido Jingu Shrine, a shrine in Sapporo. It is one of the few shrines in Hokkaido and is an overwhelmingly large shrine.
It was built in 1871 at its current location. It was destroyed by fire in 1974 and rebuilt in 1978. This is the current version. It is easily accessible by subway or bus from Sapporo Station.-Enjoy!
