浅間山の噴火 天明3年（1783年）7月8日（旧暦）午前10時頃…
4月、鳴動が始まり、大地は鳴り響く。
その後、何度となく爆発、震動がおこる。
7月に入り噴火活動は最高潮に達した。
7日の夕方から激しい噴火となる。
7月8日、前夜の鳴動もますます激しくなり、
夜が明けても空一面黒煙に包まれ、夜のように暗かった。
そして午前10時頃…
浅間山が光ったと思った瞬間、真紅の火炎が数百メートルも天に吹き上がると共に大量の火砕流が山腹を猛スピードで下った。
山腹の土石は溶岩流により削りとられ土石なだれとして北へ流れ下った。鎌原村を直撃した土石なだれはその時間なんとたったの十数分の出来事だった。
家屋・人々・家畜などをのみこみながら土石なだれは吾妻川に落ちた。鎌原村の被害は死者477人、生存者は鎌原観音堂に逃げ延びた93人のみだった。
この噴火の際、最後に流出したのが鬼押溶岩流である。

なぜ鬼押出しってついたの？
いつ誰によって付けられたかは明らかでない。
〈上州浅間嶽虚空蔵菩薩略縁起〉によると…
浅間山には“鬼”が住んでいることになっている。しかも、その鬼の行状が噴火に係わっているとみられることから、おそらく、押出しの奇異な現象を目にした里人によって、自然発生的に名付けられたものであろう。
この爆発の溶岩の規模は山頂火口から北方へ約5.5km、幅は800m～2kmとされ、その面積は6.8平方キロ、容積は0.2立方キロに達すると言われている。
浅間山ってどんな山？（成り立ち）
浅間山が活動を始めたのは今から十数万年前と考えられ、記録として残されているのは約1,300年前（西暦685年）からで、それ以前のことは全く分かっていない。いずれにしろこの間に数えきれないほどの爆発と噴火を繰り返すことにより形成されたものである。浅間山は那須火山帯に属しコニーデ型成層火山（三重式）である。
現在の釜山は三回目にできた山という意味で、古い時代の第一の火山は黒斑山、牙山（第一外輪山）、第二にできた火山は西の前掛山と東の前掛山（第二外輪山）、前掛山と前掛山の間に現在の第三の釜山（中央火口丘）ができた。いわゆる三重式の成層火山としてなりたっている。小浅間山は高さ200mの溶岩円頂丘で、黒斑山の爆発破壊の後（約20,000年前）噴出した溶岩でできている山である。

And around 10 am …
At the moment when I thought that Mt. Asama was shining, a crimson flame blew up to the heavens for hundreds of meters and a large amount of pyroclastic flow went down the hillside at a tremendous speed.
The earth and stones on the hillside were scraped off by the lava flow and flowed north as an avalanche. The earth and stone avalanche that hit Kamahara village was only a dozen minutes of events at that time.
The earth and stone avalanche fell into the Agatsuma River while swallowing houses, people, and livestock. The damage to Kamahara Village was 477 dead, and the only survivors were 93 who fled to Kanbara Kannondo.
At the time of this eruption, the last outflow was the Onioshi lava flow.

“Oni” are supposed to live on Mt. Asama. Moreover, since the behavior of the demon seems to be related to the eruption, it was probably named spontaneously by a villager who saw the strange phenomenon of extrusion.
