Kumano Nachi Taisha Grand Shrine was the sight that convinced us to visit Wakayama Prefecture and to make our way to it’s Southern tip. The shrine complex is nestled in the mountains and is known for it’s famous 3 storied pagoda with large waterfall as it’s backdrop. It makes for a beautiful picture, and much of Wakayama’s tourist advertising showcases it.
In Part 2 of this 2 part episode we make our way to the grand shrine itself and explore the other sights at the top of the complex before making our way back down to visit Nachi Falls.
Come along with us as we make our way to the complex from our ryokan located in Katsuura. We take a local bus along the beautiful winding roads up into the mountains and then start to explore the vast complex including the main shrine, Nachiyama, the three-story pagoda and Nachi Falls.
