On the last 2 days of our road trip we head from Kamifurano (上富良野) south to Lake Shikotsu (支笏湖) in the Shikotsu-Toya National Park. Overcast rainy weather changes our plans to play on the lake and we spend a relaxing afternoon soaking in Marukoma Onsen (丸駒温泉). Bifue Campsite (美笛キャンプ場) allowed us to fully immerse our selves in the spectacular nature of Lake Shikotsu. Our final morning was spent taking a swim in Japans second deepest lake (max depth 360m) where the depth of the water keeps the temperature very low but also prevents it from freezing in winter. The underwater visibility is awesome with about 20m of vis. A very fitting end to an epic road trip.
