Fancy a tipple? Niigata Prefecture has your name on it. Boasting more sake breweries than any other prefecture in the country (just shy of 90), it’s here where you’ll get a true taste – literally – of some of the best sake to hit the shelves.
Established in 1767, Imayo Tsukasa is a great place to start. Tour the well-preserved brewery as you learn about the sake-making process, rich history of the local area and of course, whet the palate with some tastings. Kanpai! (For those still working on their Japanese, that’s ‘bottoms up’ for you.) πΆπ
π Imayo Tsukasa is the closest brewery to Niigata Station and can be reached on foot in just 15 minutes.
