You can get Karuizawa using Seibu buses operate almost hourly between Karuizawa Station, Naka-Karuizawa Station and the Onioshidashi Park. The one way ride between Karuizawa Station and the park takes 35 minutes and costs 1230 yen. A huge car park available for private vehicles near to Onioshidashi Park.

Mount Asama is an active volcano on the Gunma-Nagano border. It is one of Japan’s most active volcanoes, and its eruptions have created some beautiful sights. One of those spots is Onioshidashi Park.

Onioshidashi Park is located on the northern area of the foot of Mount Asama. The jagged rocks are a result of an eruption in 1783.

Shiraito Falls are a graceful expanse of waterfalls located north of Karuizawa. The falls are only 3 meters tall, but they are spread out over a 70 meter wide arch. Ground water spills out of the top of the arch in hundreds of little white strings from which the waterfall gets its name. The beautiful falls are a refreshingly cool setting, especially pleasurable in the summer. The area also has an abundance of wild vegetables in the spring, and the crimson colors of the maple trees are a beautiful sight in the fall.
