Ryugen Temple
Ryugenji Temple was founded in 1395 by Ryohaku, a priest of the temple, in accordance with a dream of the Goddess of Mercy, who was sleeping under the Tsujido of Yanagishima.
He cured the village of a disease that had been prevalent in the village and named the temple Jiyunzan Muryouin Ryugenji.
Later, the temple was renamed Ryugenji Temple, as it was believed that washing one’s face with the temple’s spring water would heal one’s eyes.
In the early Edo period, the priest of the temple collected a hundred kinds of bush clovers from various countries and planted them in the temple grounds.
The “Edo Meisho Zue” (Illustrated Guide to Famous Places in Edo) depicts the temple bustling with people admiring the bush clovers.
The seasonal flowers that bloom in the precincts soothe the hearts of visitors, and the monuments to haiku poets and writers such as Matsuo Basho and Ochiai Naofumi remind us of the atmosphere of the past.

龍眼寺
龍眼寺創建は応永2年（1395年）、良博大和尚が観世音の夢告とおり、柳島辻堂の下に眠る観世音をまつり、
村に流行していた疾病を平癒し、慈雲山無量院柳源寺と号しました。
その後、寺の湧き水で洗顔すると目がよくなると眼病平癒の観世音として信仰を集め、龍眼寺と改名しました。
江戸初期には、住職が百種類もの萩を諸国から集めて境内に植えたことから、通称“萩寺”として多くの文人墨客が訪れ、
「江戸名所図会」には萩を愛でる人々で賑わう様子が描かれています。
境内に咲く四季折々の花々は、訪れる人の心を和ませ、松尾芭蕉、落合直文など文人墨客の句碑が昔の風情を偲ばせます。
