The Togakushi Main Shrine is one of three (along with the lower and middle) shrines which form Togakushi Shrine (戸隠神社, Togakushi Jinja) in the Myoko-Togakushi Renzan National Park.
The Togakushi area is a pleasant and fairly short drive from both Myoko House and Nagano city. Apart from the beautiful shrines and great hiking, it is also home to the Togakushi Folk Museum and Ninja House, Togakushi Forest Botanical Garden, great soba restaurants and, of course, Togakushi Ski Resort.
Togakushi makes a great rest day away from the mountain in winter or an equally enjoyable day trip during the green season. All bookings at Myoko House (December through April) include daily breakfast, transfers to the 4 main ski resorts and Myoko Kogen Station.
