Yakushima Island is in Kagoshima prefecture in the southern part of Kyushu, the most southern of Japan’s four main islands.
✿Getting to Yakushima
1.) ✈️ Plane- fly into Yakushima airport (expensiveeee💸)
2.) 🛥️ Speed ferry (2.5 hours 9,200¥ one way)
3.) 🛳️ Car ferry (~4 hours 5,200¥ one way)
4.) ⛴️ Overnight Freight ferry (13 hours 3,900¥ one way) This is what I did, it saves you a night at a hotel plus travel time! You sleep on a tatami mat in an open space with all the other tourist passengers, they have a blanket and pillow, but get there early or they may not have any left. The ferry stops at another island for several hours in the night to rest.
