Yokohama Chinatown is a Chinatown located in the Yamashita-cho area of Naka-ku, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Before 1955, it was called Tojinmachi or Nankinmachi. The origins of overseas Chinese are relatively large in Guangdong, but they are scattered all over China.Alleys bearing place names, such as Shanghai Road, Zhongshan Road, and Fujian Road, intersect, and many of the alleys are from that area. The Chinese population of Naka Ward, where it is located, exceeds 6,000.This is about 40% of the foreigners registered in the district.

With more than 500 stores in an area of about 0.2 square kilometers, it is Japan’s largest and East Asia’s largest Chinatown.Counting from the Yokohama Nitta Consolation Site in 1866 (Keio 2nd year), it has a history of over 150 years.Together with Kobe Nankinmachi and Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown, it is one of the “three major Chinatowns in Japan”.
