ROAR! 🦁 Can you make out the silhouette of a lion’s head, mouth open, roaring towards the Kumano Sea? Formed over thousands of years, Shishi Iwa (also known as Lion Rock), in Mie Prefecture is a remarkable geological formation resembling the shape of a lion’s head.
💡 TIP: If you time your visit with the sunrise, you’ll see the lion sinking its teeth into the sun as it rises in the morning. ☀️ But the most sought-after (and difficult to photograph!) sight of all is the moon ‘trapped’ inside the lion’s mouth, seen only a handful of times each year! 🌕
