Gibier Portal Site “Gibierto”

Nagano Prefecture’s Hakuba region is an especially popular travel destination in Japan, especially among Westerners looking for Japanese “powder snow.”
But, Hakuba included, the Shinshu area (around Nagano) is also a region where gibier culture (wild game capture and cooking) is flourishing, and there are even officially certified gibier processing facilities around the prefecture.
In recent years the area has been working on developing local tourism, especially for travelers who plan to visit for longer periods, and places to experience Japanese culture or stay the night in kominka (old-fashioned Japanese houses) are multiplying.
So this time, we’d like to show you a different way to enjoy Shinshu, an area where traditional Japanese culture and gibier culture meet. Instead of concentrating on Nagano’s most popular tourist attractions, our theme is “Another Nagano.”
We hope you enjoy it along with video’s shots of beautiful Shinshu.

“Gibierto” is supported in part by MAFF through the 2020 Wildlife Harm Prevention Grant (Nationwide Gibier Promotion Project).
