仙台城は、宮城県仙台市にあった伊達氏の居城。伊達政宗の築城から、約270年に渡り伊達氏の居城であり仙台藩の政庁でした。伊達六十二万石の城だけに壮大で立派な城の面影を残していますが、残念ながら維新後ほとんどの建物が破壊され、また米軍の空襲によって焼失してしまいました。
伊達政宗が造った仙台城は、元和2年（1616）の地震で大損害を受けたのを皮切りに、東日本大震災に至るまで、度々震災被害に合い、その都度見事に復興を果たしてきました。
本丸跡に建つ伊達政宗の騎乗像は、今も仙台の街を見守っている。

Sendai Castle is the residence castle of Date clan in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. It was the residence castle of the Date clan and the government office of the Sendai domain for about 270 years after Date Masamune built. Unfortunately, most of the buildings were destroyed after the Meiji Restoration and the castle was burned down in an air raid by the U.S. military.
Sendai castle is built by Date Masamune, was severely damaged by an earthquake in 1616, and has been damaged by earthquakes many times until the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, but has been successfully restored each time. The riding statue of Date Masamune, which stands at the site of the main castle, still watches over the city of Sendai.
