Hiyoshi Shrine is popularly known as Hiyoshi Daikoku Fuku no Kami, the god of warding off evil and evil spirits.
The shrine is situated on a hill (Jumonjiyama, the site of Maizuru Castle) overlooking Ozu Town, with a magnificent view of the smoky peaks of Oaso to the east.
