Perilously perched on a secluded cliff edge, there’s good reason this hidden temple is referred to as ‘Japan’s most dangerous National Treasure!’ 😮
If you want to test your mettle and endurance, there’s a somewhat precarious trek to see Nageiredo Temple for yourself (the temple itself isn’t dangerous and hiking is only recommended with an experienced guide or other advanced hikers). The arduous hike is said to be a spiritual journey — a purification of the body and soul. Think you could tackle it? NB: the use of drones in Mt. Mitoku and within the Sanbutsuji Temple precinct is strictly forbidden.
