Being situated on a hill, the hotel also served as a refuge for survivors and volunteers during the March 2011 tsunami that wiped out the whole town.
Inside the hotel is a gallery of the devastation the disaster has brought upon this town and its people. Seeing photos and videos of what happened almost 10 years ago is still so heartbreaking but the remaining survivors of this tragedy decided that it is an experience worth sharing to the world that’s why they offer a local bus tour telling stories about the tragic event conducted by the survivors themselves. Their drive and passion to rebuild the town after such tragedy is really admirable.
The Japanese government has a discount program on several local hotels to help businesses and that’s why we got the rooms at 30% discount.
Most of the rooms has an ocean view where you can watch the beautiful sunrise.
