Sakura season leaves stars in our eyes, and there’s actually a place in Japan where you can enjoy a star-shaped sakura experience! 🤩 This is the Goryokaku, a historical fort in Hakodate, Hokkaido Prefecture. The fort was built in this shape as it allowed for greater numbers of artillery to be placed on its walls than a traditional Japanese fortress, and reduced the number of blind spots where a cannon couldn’t fire. Who said you can’t have function and style?! 🌸💫
