Japan Travel: Nagoya City Science Museum world’s largest planetarium, Nagoya04 Moopon
The symbol of Nagoya City Science Museum is a characteristic giant silver globe, which contains one of the world’s largest planetariums. Programs at the planetarium vary each month and present current astronomical phenomena. Although shows are held only in Japanese, they can still be interesting just by looking at the stars and other elements of nature being projected on the large spherical screen.
Five floors of the seven-storied museum are occupied by a comprehensive array of permanent exhibits, while temporary exhibitions are held in the basement on a periodic basis. The permanent exhibits provide abundant opportunities such that visitors of all ages can give it a try at learning science through interactive experiments. They include multiple large displays such as the “Electric Discharge Lab,” the “Tornado Lab” and the “Deep Freezing Lab,” which simulates conditions at the earth’s polar areas.
